In the eye of the beholder

Eyes that do not see
heart that does not feel,
how a heart bleeds
or my how many tears spill.
Words cannot truly express
what is in plain view
the depth of emotions
in all its shades and hues.

In the eye of the beholder;
can it really be seen?
who truly lives
within the person you see?
The eye can be easily fooled,
the heart most certainly tooled,
but the soul of the woman or man,
cannot be changed on command.

Can you see through the eyes,
the love that lives inside?
The fear we often try to hide,
or the wound that just will not cauterize?

The eyes: windows of the soul
reveal more than we care to behold,
but there is nothing worse
than a blind man who refuses to see
that which is plain
as day can simply be.

If your blind, does it mean that you truly cannot see?
