Observational Poems
POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poetry about life, society and the natural world
Observational poems offer a view of life from the world the writer inhabits. You'll find social, political and nature poems that provide an outlook on life around the globe. Observational poetry offers social commentary on subcultures, war, poverty, street life and politics. Along with social poems, you'll also find poetry here which explores the natural world. This broad category has poetry about everything to do with the way the world works (or doesn't work).
Ice Cream
As I walked home from school, I couldn’t help but grin with joy, at the A+ I had gotten on my addition test. I had gotten the best grade in my 1st grade class. Mama will be so excited to hear about this, I thought. I was about halfway home when I noticed a car had driven up next to me on the road. The window went down and I saw that it was Mr. McGregor. He was an older fellow, but he was the nicest man in the neighborhood. He always said hello to people when he was walking around in the neighborhood, and was generally just very nice. “Hello Samantha, your mom told me to bring you home today,”...

Buddhist Nun
Buddhist Nun
Eyes that echo like conch shells
From canyons of stone and sun
Where Bodhi trees collect on hillsides
For the little Buddhas
to proliferate enlightenment
Where her eye facets go starry
Like the diamond of the sutra
Spoken by Siddhartha
But growing like a child in her scriptural womb
Where consolation floats like a constellation
Of Himalayan stars over a unicorn forest
Where the singing bowls
Turn her mind into a magnifying glass
Which focuses the sun of truth to burn a hole
Through the stale air of...

f**k [IT]
I don't know [IT]
Not from a bar of Palmolive soap
[IT's] sat
opposite a similarly
ridiculous figure
But [IT]
But [IT] does
But [IT] fucking cackles
I've considered closing
though
the other twenty
shouldn't be penalised!
The problem is [IT]
And [IT]
And [IT] does
And [IT] fucking cackles
Calling last round
Fuck this
Let [IT]
go home
and fuck [IT]
and [IT's] cackle
alone
My ears can't
they just can't.

Avidly brownnosing to their perceived social betters - an entrenched, largely white, British thing!
By Stanley Collymore
If these Brexiteers actually
do care so much for their
beloved and applauded
Saxe-Coburg-Gothe-Mountbatten
Windsor and Kraut Klan, family;
why don't all of them, literally
go out and get jobs to then
completely financially pay
for this avid scrounging,
medieval mindset, Dark
Ages family; who, as it
obviously happens, is
firmly entrenched so
irrefutably in what's
allegedly a modern
and equal Britain?

Misérable peuple
Si vous le gardez stupide
Je le garderai pauvre''.
Des paroles qui traversent
Aisément des siècles
Même si récemment écrites.
''Let them eat cake'' said

Plus ça change,
Plus c'est pareil.

No Room for Hate in the Garden of Love
hate runs through their veins
some ways are too strange
so they turn away
judgment for a man in a skirt
how dare she not want to be looked at
in such a manner
mothers clutch your purse
your child might see reality
that freedom isn't a given
it's only for the selected
suppression for anyone who dares be different
in my mind
does it really matter,
where someone wants to poop?
women sports might be dominated
is that what they really care about?
I think it's just people making up problems
to add to their everyday...

a writers life
A WRITERS LIFE
There is on Facebook pictures of dead film stars
like Elisabeth Taylor, who was born in London
and photos of her childhood.
I don´t really care about this. We should remember her
as a great actress, see her movies and shut up.
Then we have Ernest Hemingway, who is one of me
favourite writers, alas, he often appears in the picture
of his life, not so much about his writing, more about
his adventures, which I do not care to read about.
Dos Passos, another great writer, lived a smaller amount
of daring-do, but he surpassed...

"Never" ... A Poem written by Big VIrge 11/5/2017
I Was Told Yesterday ...
That ... CERTAIN Things ...
WILL ... NEVER Change ... !!!!!
Well I Guess That Is TRUE ...
From CERTAIN Points of View ...
Like Saying Girls Will Get LOOSE ...
For These OLD WEALTHY Dudes ... !!!
Which Just Goes To Prove ...
That Money CONTROLS ...
These Young PRETTY Ho's ... !!!
And Just Like THAT ... " Coc' " ...
CONTROLS And Takes HOLD ...
of MORE Than Their Nose ... !!!!!
It Takes HOLD of Their SOULS ...
And Zones I Advise ...
That You Folks...
That ... CERTAIN Things ...
WILL ... NEVER Change ... !!!!!
Well I Guess That Is TRUE ...

Blistered Souls
Blistered feet.
Worn from the jagged road.
Marched upon by the generations of endurance.
An achievement to instill pride in all.
All.
Each and every one of us.
So that granted may not be held with such frailty .
How they all got us here.
In this time of ours. This time that is us.
So that you may pass by the orchards without a glance.
They carved the paths that we still follow.
Still.
From them we are alive.
Those blistered feet that put us here.

Insecure
Witness me!
So that I may be forgotten
After the limelight has faded
And I have been fulfilled
Look upon me
For I have done great things
And I have proven to be a man
I am a man, right?
Gaze forth while I stand
I am the best of my father's sons
And I have realized his dreams
Yeah?
Indulge my misgivings, that's what I seek
Confirm to me that I'm not weak
Though I think it so, deep within
Take the time to raise my chin
So that I may be forgotten
After the limelight has faded
And I have been fulfilled
Look upon me
For I have done great things
And I have proven to be a man
I am a man, right?
Gaze forth while I stand
I am the best of my father's sons

It's quite strange
that such potent beauty
rings from strings
that sweet murmurs
spark such fervor
that if you are truly still
nature speaks
you are you
and I me - no one else
but we're lost
we're so small
yet we're grand
isn't it strange
that such potent beauty
rings from strings

BLM (Woking title)
I sit at the edge of the world.
Once regrettably unwilling.
Now painfully conscious.
Feet dangling over the abyss
In an attempt to address the
Irreconcilable.
All around the earth melts
And weeps.
Like flesh slowly dripping off bone.
Sloppily congealed. Over-saturated.
Once tightly bound in white satin,
Now destined to unravel.
In my fragile self-embrace
Our society is mirrored.
I am but a shadow on a distant
Landscape, barely visible in the
Infinite horizon of space, wondering
Which way to float. ...
