The lie that Passive Means Weakness
Me: Minding my business as I drink with my friend and his friends in order to be supportive and get to know them.
Them: “Trump will save America”
Me: “Ok.” I take a sip and avoid the the tangents going on around me, but roll my eyes involuntarily as their never ending rants go on and on. It's not enough that I am silently enduring this abuse. I'm choosing not to speak on it. And yet …
Them: “Oh, looks like we got a feminist! I can guess, but, who are you voting for?” He knows, but needs the verbal confirmation to drive his point home.
Me: Kamala....

Eat My Dump
People offer their opinions
and unsound beliefs
which may make them the minions
of public money griefs.
By all means give them equal time
with open ears and mind
but best know first what's law and crime
to say how they're inclined.
The judge will say it's no excuse
that you knew not the law
or that your wits would not deduce
statutes from moral flaw.
And it may grind your gears to hear
your character called out
by a confident sonneteer...
whose rhymes make dipshits pout.
and unsound beliefs

Diddy going to jail is like rewarding him for his alleged crime

No Molotov's!
Some still think that to make new things better
we have to burn down the infamous past
as if eliminating a letter
would make a saint from every scholiast
or that torching down entire abodes
will magically trans-mutate neighborhoods
into someplace where no ethic corrodes
in swaps between all services and goods...
to say nothing of the environment
stung by the fallout from the toxic flames
which planned disassembly would circumvent
with less pollution from the timber frames...
since who knows what else was in that old...

The Hazard Duke
No Photoshop or acid trip
messed with my youthful mind
and elders with a lid to flip
would soon be proved unkind.
No internet would challenge us
with outrage every day
as treacherous and seditious
as MAGA hate display.
We knew those stars and bars were wrong
just like that hogging boss
who chased those Duke boys all day long
in muscle car crisscross.
But stars and bars weren't for the south
as much as for those whites
who grew to love the loudest mouth...
that by a tweet incites.

Unshackled Yet Enchained (Nigeria's Cry)
October 1st, a day of claimed pride,
Nigeria's independence, a partial stride,
From colonial chains, we broke the mold,
But subtle bonds remain, our progress to hold.
The masters left, but their systems stay,
Institutions rigged, to keep us at bay,
Economic strings, pulled from afar,

Too many borders for joyful fates;
yet still were some who thought they might unite
under a banner as blue as midnight
with field stars like the United States
to likewise symbolize potential there
or an emulation of welkin grace
which all visionary humans can trace
