feminine stranglehold

a grey room at noon
casts lonely shadows

the kind that pull
on my emotions

a tomb of whispers

heard in the corners
of my mind
shake it off, i tell myself

the bleakness of tea cup conformity
won't allow me to break my binds

suffocating under the weight
of my own feminine class

strangled by my bra straps

i pull against the fabric of existence
that seeks to stitch me in

though if i pull too hard the whole damn
thing may come unraveled

would it be so wrong
to run free like a wild horse
that has never been saddled?
