Mommy
I suspect that's what you want from me
stillness and resigned wait for your gaze
or the sound of your sinister breathing
when you are killing a chicken or rabbit
when you fill your hands with dirty red
irremovable, irremediable, intravenous
when you slowly remove fur and feathers
when you dismember very small beings
methodically, morbidly, histologically
you prepare and serve any sweet dinner
and so we eat everything you make calmly
and so you feed me from everything you do
and so I digest everything you put on the table
I...

Please Stay
stay
don’t let
recruiters prey
stay
don’t heed
liars on grandstands
stay
don’t be lured
by empty promises
stay
don’t toil
for distant oil
stay
don’t join
mercenary bands
stay
don’t go
to foreign lands
stay
your tribe
needs strong hands
stay
don’t leave our blood
on foreign sands

Oh, My God! What Was I Thinking Last Night?
Vera
stood up, went
into
the bathroom and looked
at herself naked
in the mirror. Then,
she looked
at her son's
friend Scott.

Susan Had Already Picked Him Up
Diana was told by Eric's school
that their next door neighbor Susan
had already picked him up.
After that, Diana
went to Susan's house
and saw with shocked
eyes her son
hump that
pal.

Care To Join Us?
David
saw his mom
strip down
and move slow towards
his best friend Adam
before she saw her
son and
asked "Care to
join us?"

A Fathers heart
In the depths of a father's soul, a story unfolds,
Of sacrifice and pain, too great to be told.
For in the shadows, I silently carry the weight,
Protecting my children, their futures secure and straight.
Through sleepless nights and weary days,
I labor on, my love never sways.
For my children's dreams, my heart does bleed,
A silent warrior, fulfilling every need.
In my tired eyes, wisdom lines lie deep,
Etched by battles fought, secrets I'll forever keep.
I shield them from the darkness that may come,

A House Not Yet Home
I am a river flowing against its course,
my mother tries to dam me,
compares me to sacred texts,
to a lamp that’s lost its oil,
says I am breaking her,
that she could never face the world
with a son like me,
unthinkable, unimaginable,
every son before or after me
is soaked in my shame.
I fill her eyes
with tears corrosive as acid,
her heart just a wound
screaming for my normalcy.
But I am always too genuine,
frightening in the way I love men,
unapologetic and vulnerable.
She tells me that no god...

Call me Betty
I gave up in January
I thought about it
Back then
Don’t know why
I do what I do
I’m a mother and that’s all
I’m good for
The happiest I’ve ever been
Was when I was pregnant with you
Even in my childhood I was never
As enthusiastic about life as when
I was carrying you
You gave me purpose
Because I’d never seen a
future for myself
I’ve never pictured myself
As an old lady
I think I’ll pull a Betty Draper
get aggressive cancer
Have a few months left
And forget why...
I thought about it
Back then
Don’t know why
I do what I do
I’m a mother and that’s all
I’m good for
The happiest I’ve ever been
Was when I was pregnant with you
