In very small increments
The nature of my thoughts turned

A new trajectory set its path
Of all the minutes in a day

Unrequited love is a thorn to a rose. Among beauty lies the pain. It never rights itself, and in my experience, the barb of the thorn hurts worse (and differently) the second time.

I think the best things in life are free, and that being the case they are shrouded in mystery. If we could 'get a handle on them' with our limited human understanding, then they would not be free any more - and would be unable to be the wonderful thing they are. I’ve learned that if love comes too easy it’s usually one sided, and then it ends up not being easy at all. True love takes work. Seeing the imperfections, loving that person in spite of them and working through the rough patches together is the only way to foster a relationship worth having.
My heart is smiling to know that despite the pain, it’s been worthwhile for you and you have found a love worthy of all you have to offer.

Wonderful poem. How do we survive without the other? A double edge sword - having the fortune to having a soul mate, but if that soul where to be removed it would leave an enormous void. But 99.9999% of love is taking that risk.
