Floating to Japan

On an ocean cruise
you can have the top deck to yourself
after midnight

You can be nothing
but the fresh, strong breeze,
The eternity of stars
The black, mysterious ocean
the rhythmic lapping sounds
velvet horizon line

I need to be on a ship,
now,
late at night.

No,
better yet,
I need to float

knock on heaven's door
Let myself in
Float away

It's my fantasy realm
and I'm here to tell you
I will not suspend disbelief for you

You'll have to do it yourself

I'm leaving now,
I'm off
on a bed-like raft to Japan,
with cupholders on the sides
half asleep
blissfully dreamy
lazily feeding Cheerios to dolphins.
