Image for the poem Lady Darkness

Lady Darkness

She is one with a shadows' subtleties
Still silence in the deepest shade
Shelter from corrosive light
Wearing diamonds and black velvet
She dreams of his return

He wavers on a desert road
The sun raising blisters on his soul
Blood thirst circling overhead
His flesh beneath a sheen of sweat
Mapped with scars, years of regret

He finds solace in the lifting of her arms
The cool embrace, shelter from harm
The bright, hard edges lose their bite
Within all the comforts of her night.
