sunshine

You chase the light
like the shadows are beneath you
your sunshine brightening
the darkness that wears me
like a moonless midnight rain

Sometimes I can forget the cold
in the warmth of your smile
and I live for those moments
fleeting as they are

If I could freeze time for you
I would
and let your love heal
the spaces within me that give way
to the darkness too easily

I need more than what the darkness gives
