Chapter 12: Confronting Shadows
Chapter 12: Confronting Shadows
Brittney returned home before Alex got off from work. She had showered at the hotel after her intimate rendezvous with David, but she still felt imprint of his touch as if it were hanging around her neck.
As Brittney settled into the cozy living room, her mother's eyes sparkled with curiosity, barely contained behind her glasses.
"Sweetheart, you seem different today," her mother remarked, her tone gentle but probing.
Brittney forced a smile, her mind racing to concoct a plausible explanation....

Laughs and Smiles
Sometimes the days feel like they’re dragging
And yet when I look in the mirror the years have passed fast
I may not reach the peak of a mountain to fight a dragon
But I know that after I’m gone my verses are going to last
I may not be popular or reach fame in my time
But the rhymes I leave behind can serve a testament
I’m just a simple man striving to find what’s mine
So that my children will one day share in the sentiment
I’m motivated by their laughs and smiles in their faces
Like photographs of these moments engraved in our hearts ...

Their out there, just be aware
God told me to slay you, so I can stay alive
I slay children
I enjoy to see them in pain
I slay children
Bounded in shackles & chains
I slay children
Lure them in with colorful gum
I slay children
Their last day of having fun
I'll detonate the school bus
Blast out the tires
Explosion so grand
Kids dead from the fire
You all need to die
and that's the price you pay
I'm taking away your precious one
Could be tomorrow or maybe today
I have no regrets
I have no remorse ...

PCP (Pathetic Comatose People)
Rats chewed the hands, lips and nose off a four month old baby in a fleabag apartment building across the street from me. The mother was on Angel Dust. She had her head in the oven trying to kill herself. I asked her if she needed assistance. She said no. I helped her anyway.
People are so pathetic!

Sex Trafficked
Mucheal, a young lad with dreams so bright
His chiselled body, a sight to delight
But fate had a different path in store
One that would leave him shaken to the core
Rejected from a photoshoot, his dreams crushed
Dejected and lost, on a bench he hushed
But then came Herma, with a job in hand
Little did he know, it was not what he planned
A disbarred lawyer, turned business tycoon
Herma saw potential, in Mucheal's swoon
She offered him a job, to take care of her estate
But little did he know, it was a different fate

While watching Being Human (a show about a Vampire, a Werewolf and a Ghost)
Me: Babe, if a vampire offered you eternal life…
Wife: YES!
Me: Just like that huh? You’d watch me get old and die?
Wife: BYE FELICIA!

Showing the boys Naked Gun 2 ½. Lt. Frank Drebin helps me explain the birds and the bees
Xavier (11): What? I don’t get it
Xander (10): I don’t get it either

and rachael for her children cry
Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end
to man…”― John F. Kennedy
the fiercely barking hand grenades

are never idle in the hands

the sanctity of sovereign lands.
the military muscle might
of killers who paint red the night
flex in the face of helpless souls

Grown-ups Presentation
Repetitive frames...Reel to reel...Morbid in making nightmares...Frozen scream...A child's dream. For night terrors, never reflect kindness of empathy...For feelings of cold robots are none & the child learns young...Of their peers of perchers...The one's screaming down their necks...Their words are a confusing muddle...Mad is the child splashing in dirty puddles...A speech of repeat...False & long or tiresome & dull...A re-run cartoon, only shown at noon...A wore down song...Nursery rhymes out grown. Mesmerizing verses... They've heard many times. Slurred words...Booze on their...

one voice
do not try denying
every little struggle,
the cries and pain
from generations,
children weeping
in lands so selfish,
what destruction will play
if we forget
that it only takes
one voice
that could begin
to make a difference.

Regret
affliction dear please afford me this confession
assorted pain dances in my mind tormenting me
the ghosts of my children's childhoods
I see their baby faces
not enough food to sustain their grumbling bellies
they still visit me in my resting state
I see their young faces knowing I failed them
they haunt my existence I see threads wait more like nooses
troubling the present trying to hang them
none of my grown children want anything to do with each other
too many bad memories
still basically living in poverty ...

Take Me Back
Take me back to a place I want to go
Where cartoons and candy is all I know
Life was easier and more grand
Go to the beach, digging in the sand
Met with friends, knocked on their door
Kids today sit around, what the fuck for?
Baseball, biking, swimming all day
Post 2001 life has turned so grey
Government and tech has ruined our lives
Increase pressures, illness and suicide
Optimism flew away years ago
My personal opinion, just so you know
