Crafty Lies

Sometimes the easiest way out
Can be hard for others to take
It's the one thing we rarely think about
The thing we mostly fake

Sometimes what we think are the best decisions
Turn out to be the worst
Actions leave imprints and make incisions
And damages hurt

It's spiteful to throw words like bowling balls
You never know what you'll break
Regret can't always make up for impact
It's the cost of some mistakes

And then there are actions that hit just as hard
Even ten times as much
A hole from unintentional blows to the heart
Cannot be unfelt or undone and such

Understand and logicize is how the story goes
And so we fill in all the pages
Shut off feelings and do what the brain knows
Working through at different stages

But no matter your comprehension skill level
One thing can't be denied
Justification doesn't fix a damn thing about how you feel
You can sense it deep inside

We can rationalize away and pretend forever
But the reality never changes
Emotion and logic don't play nice together
We just craft lies from our mind's creations
