Beauty
We've all heard that what really matters
Is the beauty within ourselves
That appearances don't count
But the kind actions amount
To something greater.
But inner beauty
Is just another beauty
For someone else to judge.
And outer beauty
Is another form of beauty
That everyone else comments on.
What real beauty is,
I can't fully say, as
The only thing that truly matters
Is your view, your say.
What matters to you is the most important of all
Your the captain of your own ship
Your beauty is for...
Is the beauty within ourselves

Pencil
What's the point?
Of it all, if not more
To find and explore?
Surely not
Because eventually
There will be every map,
Every place marked exactly,
And nothing to continually enjoy.
The point on a pencil
Is the only thing that will matter
To the user trying to draw an ink splatter
If the pencil is dull, everyone will chatter
About the useless, dumb, pointless pencil.
How does that apply?
A pencil is not a person
Trying to survive
In a world without much reason.
The world is flawed and has many...
Of it all, if not more
To find and explore?
Surely not
Because eventually
There will be every map,

The Four "H"s
Happy
Is not common, but is a core
Of the emotions to explore
Of the four "H"s
It is genuine joy,
A pleasure, but fades like a new toy.
Helpful
Is something you do,
But given to you.
Helpful to others, helpful to yourself
Not a state of mind,
But something deep inside.
Hate
Violence and selfishness
Towards anyone, if you choose
But please do choose
To instead do "H" number two.
Harm
Is different than hate,
By action to how help is to happy,
Take control...

Try so hard,
Get so far,
Taking it all the way to the end
And when,
In the end...
Trying and pushing
And putting my face to the grindstone
Days and days of endless working
To get to the top
Then just
Stop.
Number one,
One and done.
Then what?
At the end of the road
No where to go
On the edge of a cliff
Previously covered by a mist
Obscuring the view
Of a path to no where.
Number one,
One and done.
How come?
Disappointment
Contempt
That...

Gift
The currents of the ocean
Stop for nothing
And cares for no one.
Yet it is vital for all,
No matter how small.
Does the whale need to give back
For the gift of the ocean?
But the ocean has such an impact...
What could the whale possibly give?
Surely the ocean would forgive...
Little does the whale know
That just by existing that it provides
More than it owe.
Balance in the community
Through its activities.
But doesn't the whale owe?
How much?

Time
Castle in the sky,
Time breezes by.
No clock,
No calendar,
No way of keeping time.
Fortress of fun,
Nothing to run from.
No work,
No responsibilities,
No way of keeping time.
Walls trapping me in,
Can't express anything from within,
Happiness is mandatory.
I have not one single thing,
That is mine.
Not even time.
No it is not fun,
To work and not play.
But what if play
Is all you do every day?
Prison of emotion,
Growing old is not a notion
In the trap ...

Pumpkin
Perfectly perfect,
Pretty pumpkin patch.
Probably pessimistic,
But you'll get mashed.
Cut and shredded
Into a fixed position,
A crooked smile
All part of a vision.
No choice,
No options,
Shaped and carved
Into a fixed arrangement.
Out of your control
It decides how you look
And act
And feel
And every single attribute
Determined by the otherworldly figure
With a carving tool, ready to disfigure.
Jumping with joy,
Released from jail,
Jealousy fills all with a similar...

Mirror?
What is a mirror if not a mirror?
Is it a thick haze
That almost obscures everything except the glaze
That is the tears coating your eyes?
Scars and wounds tell a tale
With a certain charm
That never seems to be honest.
And what was in the moment
The greatest feat with danger and harm
You'd rather just be modest?
Pain
And torture
And physical stress
And a never ending battle to do your best
Is all forgotten because you got through it.
The mirror doesn't reflect
But projects
As all the pain...

Interview
Flower, first of spring,
Standing in solidarity.
Alone atop a hill,
Quite an irregularity.
Microphone and camera,
Chart for recording.
This flower has stories to tell,
Why and who and how and when and I become a shell
As I want more.
Silence.
I press,
Silence.
I stress,
Silence.
Cry and shout
And scream and pout
And still silence from the flower.
Is it mad?
Is it insane?
All I am asking are simple questions
And the flower returns my exasperation
With no...
