Grey Sanctity as Summer Fades
Heat wave climaxed
Last rays of summer descending
Melancholy on a perch
Waiting to swoop in
I'll be good with that
Melanoma robbed me of summer joy
10 years a survivor
Walking the shady side of the street
There's still baseball to be played
Cool evenings
The mango finally sweet
A black merino wool v-neck in waiting
Last rays of summer descending
Melancholy on a perch
Waiting to swoop in
I'll be good with that
Melanoma robbed me of summer joy
10 years a survivor
Walking the shady side of the street
There's still baseball to be played
Cool evenings
The mango finally sweet
A black merino wool v-neck in waiting

Thanks Sister Sledge Hot Sauce Adelphina 💥💥💥💥
Learned to love the shade
All good as it can be
Good thing I used to shave my beard every April, you'd be surprised what grows under there....
Shady side of the street can be fun for other reasons too Yo
Thx on the art too !

Be a vampire! They get all the ladies it seems like.
I can appreciate your outlook about summer/sunlight.
I hate summer. Yes I've spent half my life here in Florida. Eh, life works out that way sometimes. I can snow ski, ice skate, glacier climbed a bit, play hockey, etc etc.
I've never water skied in my life. I'm a bad Floridian I guess.
Wait, I can swim like a frickin dolphin! Swimming at night in the ocean is a blast. Sharks don't want me, I'm too puny.
Plus I like choppy water. Sharks prefer easier access. Lol
BTW, I dissect abstract pictures automatically. Your pic, I see Noah's Ark, but at a wintery pass through a gorge.
Hence, a cold looking picture of salvation, from your enemy-summer poem.

Bad Floridian, funny
I lived down there for a few years when I was in college. I inherited a condo from my folks in Southern Florida but haven't used it much the last few years. Maybe this winter. All my skin issues make me wary. We'll see. For some reason I thought you lived out west or Utah or thereabouts. Not sure why.
Thx for the interpretation on my painting. Noah's ark, very cool

Dear PS,
Alternative benefits of shade-
less wrinkles
Look younger
Sweat less
After that? Who cares! You’re here and slamming it with art and poetry for us! I’m grateful. Cheers to many more decades! H🌷

Dear H,
Decades more. I like the sound of that...
No plans to stop so even more impetus.
Between Covid lurking stipple and the city heat ice been laying low must of the summer. The dry temperatures today were a real treat.
Thx for your comment and RL. The Honoria RL is something.
I love getting them if I deserve them.

Great story telling nested in a lyric about the end of summer.
Conveys an excellent sense of the speaker's feelings and thoughts about life.
The melancholy of corvus birds, the objective corollary of the black woolen sweater hung in a closet--great use of details!
LIKED for the technical skill!

This might be a first for me on technical skill, I'm gratified by that Mark. This was another that wrote itself. I've never understood that process but love it when it happens.

Summer is like a mythical illusion that I look forward to until suddenly it's gone. Melancholy on a perch... story of my life right there.
As a redhead I share your desire for shade. I dig the grays. Let's just call this "summer" party over and be done with it.

Early Sprig is great and then the heat and humidity do me in. I retreat. But late summer like right now is heavenly

Oh thank god, please tell me summer is fading.
I want all the grey, cold, and rain.
But I think summer is still here for a while...
Melancholy is something I know well. Dark
But somehow it suits me I suppose. Darkly sexual.
I prefer to stay out of the sun... it hurts...
Mango, absolutely... A mango lassi...
Because I taste super hot... :p

So, in your painting I see and arm holding a trophy and underneath the long finger of God, pointing to what looks like a black headrest in a car. I see you winning your battle and driving on the shady side, guided your understanding of the sanctity of life. To me, the painting depicts wisdom.
Your poem speaks for itself. Excellent write.
Congrats on your anniversary, Gary.

I'll never forget the day I got the news that I had melanoma. Scared the crap out of me. 2 days later a surgeon was carving me up. Half my chin had to be grafted from under my neck. I walked out of his office looking lime a mummy. Fast forward 10 years. Scar still there bit I love that scar. Funny how those things go ....
Appreciate the comment and art review. I see a black penis on its way to being erect. Humor
Thanks!!

Congratulations on the 10 years! I love the story you wove in here.
I've always had to be INCREDIBLY careful in the sun and have been pretty much covered up/ Factor 50'd my whole life... but I do like summer. Until the other evening, when at 10pm it was still 28 degrees outside, and also 28 degrees inside, with no breeze whatsoever. Then it got old pretty quickly.
