Stiletto Meadow
At nine years old
The water ate my lungs
Turning me ice cold
In the year 1984
With my mother’s heels on
Playing dress up
And hop scotch
Across the pond
Where the scent of
My ghost lives on
Gliding with the swans
I’m dead and gone
Butterfly broken wings
Reflect beside my
Fossilized teeth
Playing hide and seek
Sunflowers larger
Than the vintage sun
Gave rays of shade
To my antique bones
It’s now 2084
I’m dead and gone
But the scent of my
Ghost...

Cloudscape
Coy he isn’t
He’s confident inside
His cloudscape
Where black and white
Collide into lightning
Lighting the landscape
Of his poetic mind along
With an occasional cigarette
Answering the call
Of being struck
On his back porch
In only a towel that’s
Still damp from his shower
Where lines of smoke
Are written in sync with
The pulse flashing inside
His electric blue eyes
When he’s focused
In rainwater soaked hair
Embracing the storm
Where grey turns to chrome
...

Rosary made of Rosemary
Save me through cremation
Not with mother earth
Ascend me towards my father
And his cloud of caskets
Lined in silver silk
Where I will be
Dead asleep
With a hidden door
Beneath my scented pillow
From my Rosary
Made of Rosemary

Needle like leaves
That threaded
Into my spirit
From countless
Prayers and songs
Make my ebony hair

Worshiping the Sky
Hundreds of thousands of steps
Up pyramids towards the clouds
Where I'm high on the sun
Free of all my troubles and doubts
Should I take my body
Or leave it behind
A weightless experience
Widow my shadow
Cause I'm tired inside time
Worshiping the Sky
Leave gravity
On earth
To worship you
The big topaz blue
I want to be endless
But not too far from home
I want to be fearless
At peace with what will come

Submerge it

Like roses bleed the color red
Blooming velvet petals of flesh
Gifting bouquets of life
Consummating consonants
as we vocalize the vowels
Words held our hands
until our hands held us
in physical sentences
Like the sky breezes into the blue
Creating fingers of soft air

Leading to night, candlelight

Whispered words
Skybridge lines
Igniting my jet engine eyes
Floating into my mind
Fueled by paper planes

I remember at fifteen
Blinking lights
Color of wintergreen
Above a summer night
Underneath a June twilight
On a ride steering
The Ferris Wheel
Slow loud spins
Feeling alive
Elevated to the top
Loving life
Way up high In the sky
Laughing you and I
Eighties painted eyes
Red feathers in my hair
Glancing at you
Trying not to stare
Wondering if
You'll make a move
Or will it be me
Your hand on my knee
We're spinning around

Standing on top
Of glamour hill
Typed tongues
Like bible pages
Dressed in black and white
Spewing ancient words
For the modern ages
Dealing forgiveness
Addicting the human race
Eucharist pills
Washed down in wine
Without a trace
Pass out the gold
Donation bowl
Cash in their sin
For a pass into the
Lambent land
Buying priceless souls

My own way

I'm eyeing a blinding horizon
Walking on saltwater diamonds
They draw blood with each step I take
Life never promises any breaks

Reaching for my ankles hoping I'd drown
From an ocean filled with meth
I learned to walk on water
You flunked addiction's test
I'm going it alone
Surviving the aftermath
Just me and my tired bones
Cleansed in a sunbath
Let it storm let it bang

Cause I've finally woke up

Stumbling Star
Rolling with the punches
Of the riot in my life
Surrounded by threatening words
Meant to knock me off balance
Running away from sinking holes
Tripping outside on panic
But he caught me
He never let me fall
Lifting me higher
Then the brightest star
Through my darkest of times
Nudging my courage
Away from intimidation
Until I wearily land
Within the safety
Of his house of hands
Aged with wisdom
Patience and strength
Believing in faith and time
Rebuilding me to trust again
