Resentful

When we first met
You painted the perfect picture.
You said you were everything I needed and more.
I believed you.
Now that perfect picture is tear stained and worn.
Can’t hardly tell that it was once beautiful  before.
I don’t even know you anymore.
When you come in the room the mood darkens.
My smile fades.
I’m so tired.
Been working for days while you just lay around.
I do so much for you.
You don’t acknowledge it, but you’re quick to point out my flaws.
You’re ready to tell me what I’ve done wrong.
It’s a never ending sad song.
I wish we could go back in time to the good days.
Even though it was all a facade.
I’d love to unsee the truth.
Put the blinders back over my eyes.
So you can be the man you said you were.
I know it won’t happen.
It’s just wishful thinking.
These resentful feelings are here to stay.
Forever.
