McKenna's Lesson

McKenna Cunningham stood in her cousin’s chamber in front of his desk. Two of the guardsmen stood on each side of her. She looked at Blane sadly as he stared upon her. She knew he was going to ask her once more if she had reconsidered her answer about marrying Hamish. The answer was still no. The man made her recoil in disgust he was a filthy vial man. Then Blane will become Laird and ruin her family’s legacy.
“Kenna, have ye changed yer mind lass?”
“Nay Cousin, I will not marry Hamish.”  She said softly.
Blane shook his head as he stood up and grabbed the switch that was sitting upon his desk. McKenna shook her head as he approached her. Fear filled her soft blue eyes when she felt the guardsmen on her left grab ahold of the back of her dress and tear it wide open.
“Nay! How dare ye lay yer hands upon me?” McKenna Cried.
Blaine slapped the left side of her mouth and she sucked in a deep intake of air. Tasting blood in her mouth she tried not to let the tears gather in her eyes.
“These men do not answer to ye lass. They are my men.  I am the head of household and I say ye are marrying Hamish Gilleasbuig.” Blane hissed.
“Nay. I refuse to marry him.” She repeated softly.
Blane motioned to the guardsmen and they both grabbed a hold of her and forced her to bend down across the desk as they held her down. McKenna let out a sob knowing the pain she was about to encounter. Hearing the switch sail through the air she closed her eyes tight as it connected with her skin.  Jumping forward she held in her scream. She was not going to let him see her cry.
“Ye will not defy me. I have already announced yer betrothal to Hamish.” Blane hissed.
Another blow from the switch landed upon McKenna’s already bruised back. Shaking her head her heart fell deep within her chest. He was going to force her to marry that monster. He only wants to become Laird. Lash after lash Blane continued to beat McKenna until she could barely stand. Tears streamed down her face, but she had not let out a single yelp of pain.
