"The Retroactive Mind"

There is no way to escape
the reality that we live in

We can run away and move
to a far away place that we've
never in our lives before known

And we can change our external
surroundings, thinking perchance
if it's out of sight it's out of mind

But no matter where we run to, or
what new place we relocate our
lives to; no matter what we put
ourselves into so that the
external influences are
different about us, this
will not change shit...

Because the struggle and the
war is not without, but within;
in our own minds is where it
is being engaged

If we flee it will trail

If we uproot and sever all ties,
it will return unto us and be at
home again

It will change our new surroundings
to also be like the atmosphere that
once was

Like a phantom, a poltergeist, a
wraith it'll seek out

The cessation is brief

Short-lived is the reprief
