Anti-Hero

He burst through the doors, guns in the air.
A shot or two just to scare
The defensless children in the room.
A sense of foreboding in the air doth loom.

He puts a gun to her pretty head,
Threatens to make her as good as dead.

Infuriated, I arise. I'm done listening to his lies.
"Be calm, all will live."
"We just want your money, to pay our bills."
He will not hurt my friend.
He will die by avenging hand.

The weapon is trained on me.
He yells, "Sit down you little freak."
I stand taller, black flames licking my feet.
I feel power swirling on the inside.
Dark clouds swirling on the outside of my body

As it turns black
In the mist that has covered me front to back.
I've scared Him.
He fires a bullet.
I deflect it easily with the slightest movement.

When the smoke clears, my eyes are red.
My body is cloaked in a cape.
I'm sheathed in a hood as black as the dead.
I feel a knife on my nape.

Looks like my boy didn't come alone.
I can feel it deep in my bone.
This is the end, but not for me.
It's over for these detestable creeps.

SHUCK!

In an instant I've whirled around.
Planted my feet firmly in the ground.
Driven my hand into the asshole's chest
And ripped his heart from where it rests.

Needless to say, Sub One know's he's screwed.
So he unloads a clip or two
At my body in a blind haste.
The bullets smash into my face.

I'm not hurt, it kinda tickles.
I'm given to fits of giggles
At his futile attempt to save his life.
But he shouldn't have threatened my one friend, right?

FLASH!

His mask is gone, along with all the flesh and bone.
He's a smoldering pile of human debris.
All the helpless children are free.

My work is done, my eyes turn brown.
My cape, disappears. As does the hood on my crown.
I look around- What have I done?
I had fun.

Jets overhead.
They're telling me to land.
I turn over on my back and try to shoot them down.
I miss, they swerve and return fire.
Heat seeking missiles.
I dodge and throw myself out of the deadly projectile's path.
They come back at me.
I send out two more energy bolts at the incoming threats.
There's machine gun fire behind me.
I throw a couple of loops and shoot in the other direction.
Bad idea.
I perceive at least half a dozen more jets headed my way.
I turn around, the first two are gaining.
All 8 jets release heat seeking missiles.
Oh God- I'm going to die.
I wake up instead.

Your hero

"He saved the child!"
"He saved her life!"
"He is our hero!"
"He is the masked man!"
"He is a criminal!"
"He is a bird, a plane, a hero!"

What am I?
This mask I put on, does it make me a new person?
Am I good, am I bad?

I've been doing this for seven years,
looking for you.
I've saved so many lives,
looking for yours.
I helped so many people,
when I wanted to feel your warmth.
I fooled the police,
when I wanted to fool around with you.

What is it what I am?
Just some empty guy, looking for the girl he lost?
What can fill my heart?

Death is so far away, yet so near.
Just one step, forward.
I jump, look for you, one last time.
I have to carry on, I have to live on.

For that one time, when I couldn't save the one person who meant the most to me,
I have to be the hero, the one person everyone can believe in.
I will do my job. But girl, I will never forget you,
these memories fill me with hope.

Your hero

standing face to face
with the man who has begun to call himself, my nemesis
i couldn't help but laugh
i'm not your average hero
nor am i a vigilante
i like being praised
i like being the winner
and if happiness and peace is brought because of this
i cannot help it that they call me hero
my power is great and with it responsibility
i am a monster
when my powers are not active i look like everyone else but after
i am your worst nightmare
my name says it all
enigma in America
abomination in europe
samedi in Africa
okami in Japan
they all call me different things
but here is this man that dates call himself my nemesis
with a name like the marionnete
ha! he controls his robots and gizmos
but i control the shadows
i rule the darkness
the night
and i have nearly forgotten what my name was before all this
i whisper it to myself every moment i can so i do not lose my humanity
and he strikes...
with one swift movement
my powers awaken
shadows surround me
my tattoos come alive
growing wings of black goo
claws of obsidian darkness
greaves envelop my legs
and the sun disappears from the sky
his robots scamper along the buildings over cars
as i put the civilians to sleep and envelop them in protective shadows
i flick my wrist and the robots are shredded
gears and strips of scrap locked in place by strands of shadow web
the marionette screams and rushes
and hundreds upon thousands of robots appear from the ground
the buildings
and yet it is useless
only one person can defeat me and he is hardly a person
gabriel...
but it does not matter
i sigh for i am bored of these games
and i allow the darkness to swallow the marionette and his puppets
one less nuisance to deal with
i am not a hero
for a hero has a conscience
i am nothing but a shadow
i seek nothing but vengeance
and nothing shall stand in my way

MWAHAHAHAHAHEHEHAHA!
You think you can really stop me
My little circus will rule Gotham
all while every citizen is smiling

Awww but Bats, you have to play my game
Rule number one, NO CHEATING
But you don't really care about rules
ahh well, expect a beating

Ha ha ha, you think your so funny
Well I invented funny, this is how it is done
I hope you like my friends Batty
You will enjoy, this barrel of fun

First my King of cards
then old Jack acrobat
Then my Ace in the whole
He will love to give you a whack

What! No! you checkmated the old king
Jack is out in one knock
Well you asked for it
Here comes the Croc

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAEHEHOHAHA!
Wait what? Croc is out cold?
Well Batty, looks like I'm up next
to bad up here, no one is home

Human by day
Caped crusader by night
A shadow within a shadow
He is the Dark Knight

Evil is what he lurks
Punishment he will provide
With toys worth millions
Criminals will run and hide

Revenge is his motive
No mercy is his game
One man on his own
In which no one can tame

Swiftly he moves
Silently through the dark
As light as a feather
As lethal as a shark

He is my hero..
And I, his biggest fan..
A ninja-skilled vigilante
He is my Batman..

If they are indeed allowed, if not, then I will remove this.. (:

Now, all I have to do is stare
and it's calm when the lips stay perfectly still.
At the sight of the first tear
I lean forward and kiss their forehead
promising them that they need not follow me;
there is no difference between us any more.

They leave, and I accept no thank you's:
They would have done this themselves
had they been left alone
by everything that's unjustified.
Only the fool would expect something different,
and even they will learn
once my eyes meet there's.

It is as simple as the mirrored reflection
of themselves, dancing around
two dark watery eyes
that they need not comprehend
or comfort.

I walk on,
there are many to get to.
Those who look down
I take their hand in mine.
It is my duty
to ensure
that no one attempts
this farce alone.
