Leave The Hallway Light On

Mother please leave that light on.
Especially if I’m going to put myself to sleep alone.
Brave there was no sign of sleep.
Like a bird with broken wings forced to fly.
Out I would have never known.
In the company of the imaginary ghost and monsters me all alone.
Sometimes sleep became two or three times of painful waking.
A little monster in the making.

Ode, To My Baby Brother

I’m weary of your anger

I’m tired of your lament

Offended by everyone

No one escapes your judgment

You’ve grown into a cynic

With a dark depressing soul

Once you were a baby

Whose mother loved you so

Your heart has become so hard

Your mind is so shallow

I must move away

From the darkness of your shadow

This Child’s Disgrace

A little boy is weeping,
On the cathedral steps on Saturday
He’s crying because his mom is dying,
While his father is getting married today.
He sobs with deep an ache in his heart,
Building up courage to enter the church,
To tell the priest to stop the ceremony
He has come to the end of his search.
And the little boy's  clothes,
Were dirty, tattered and torn,
Walking barefoot scared to meet,
The father he never met since he was born.
And as preacher asked if anyone would oppose,
To this marriage taking place,
The little boy walked up the long isle,
With tears streaming down his face.
“Daddy” said the child, with trembling voice,
“Daddy we need to you today,
Mommy is sick and she needs medicine,
To help her feel better some way”
And the guests in utter shock,
In disbelief of this taking place,
Whisper amidst each other,
Criticizing this child’s disgrace.
The bride looked at her groom,
Asking if this iss true, he begins to nod,
“I've never seen this boy,” his father said,
Denying his son in the house of God.
“Daddy don’t you recognize me,
Don’t I resemble you in some way,
Look at my eyes and tell me,
Don’t I look like you in some way”
But all the groom could do,
Is turn his back and face the altar,
Closing his eyes and sighing,
Today his composure did not falter.
The boy is dragged out of the sanctuary,
As he cries with a deep hurt in his soul,
He told the truth and no one believed him,
There is nothing that would console.
And as the church door closes,
He leans against the doors yelling,
“I am your son and you are my father”
Over and over, the truth he kept telling.
His strength begins to fade away,
As he walks back to his mother’s side,
In a small town, hungry and alone
With his spirit broken and name denied.
His mother’s illness has taken its toll,
All he did was spend the rest of the day,
Holding her hand as they both fall asleep,
Waiting for the hurt to go away.

Why do you need
to see
whats behind the door
are the words
i love you
not enough
any more
why do you insist
on looking
behind the scenes
when you know
what you will find
will not be me
yet you hope and pray
that i will change
while wishfull thinking
becomes your cage
as you lay
on your barron bed
of dispair
believeing
one day i will care

Sorrow’s Companion

She’s a liar with a mask
And every time that you ask
She replies, “I’m okay,
Never one to complain”

But every night can’t close her eyes
Collapsing over all her lies
And every morning her cheeks are wet
The salty sting of her regrets

Can’t find the strength to voice her sickness
Less she get in line with all the victims
Countless times she stifles pain
Her lifeless efforts go in vain

Quiet tears pour from her eyes
Each tear a voice to match her lies
Tortured nightmare that she breathes
In a world sick with disease

For now she’ll wear her mask of lies
Along with an unconvincing smile
Postpone the callings of her heart
One day soon, she will fall apart

Deja Vu

deja vu: I see you
glinting
from the corner
of my eye
shadows electrify
ignite
memories

recollections flutter by
as I’m
wandering
through space and time

I’m swept away...

scenes are dripping
vacant eyes are peering
cautious and leery
at painted canvas

stained
reminiscence stings
spilling into me
grasping at
imaginations
hieroglyphics of
impermanence

metaphysics
I wonder at
your meaning

dreaming
repetitious screaming
as a blade
presses into skin
splits
peeling open
crimson beading

I awake
but can’t escape
this haunting feeling
bleeding
damaged
I’ve breached capacity

silenced...

traveling offender
hindered
my psyche falters
relive it all for
an addiction
daunting
calling its puppeteer

and so it is
as I feared
a fervent fever burns
internal taunting
eternally concealed

suicide:
please beseech me

I am in need...
