The Things That Trees do Hear
Oh, if the trees could talk!
The stories they would tell!
Of lovers, or family members, out for a spring walk,
Of the beautifully overcast afternoon wishes, made at the "Ol' Wishing Well",
Of lumberjacks at work, and of gardeners planting trees.
Of the lovesick, picking flowers for their betrothed or longingly searching for answers as they pick the petals off a daisy,
Of twittering birds, fluttering butterflies, and buzzing honeybees,
Of morning strolls with a hot coffee.
Of dappled sunlight, spring showers, and the ocassional mushroom growth, ...

Plym above the Weir
Mid October, river level 0.7 and rising, 14°c, 400m
I was told not to swim above a weir,
too fast flowing, apparently you'd roll beneath, hit again,
again and again by the weight of water.
The burn is back,
churns my nerve
pushed against the pace of a fast flowing weir.
We enter above
scramble
barefoot over upturned slate and rubble,
fumble
for a little courage, splash
neck, forearms, breast
and sink,
slow,
into cold.
I let it settle
around the extremities as if nettle stings...

Into The Woods
Away from the home a little girl roamed farther and farther she strayed.
Then in a rush she went deep in the brush until hopelessly losing her way.
Fighting her fear till shedding a tear she pondered a horrible fate.
She sat on the ground while looking around as it grew terribly late.
Among the timbering oak one gently spoke to the trembling child.
“Please have no fear, you’ll be safe with us here, sheltered from the wild.”
Shocked and surprised she doubted her eyes and her betraying ears.
Then one by one more trees joined in the fun to calm the little girls...

OUTSIDE THE BOX
As the season slowly beings to change and fall appears upon and within the trees that slowly begin to change there colors, and the skies change from baby blue to dark and gray mix with a touch of white puffy clouds, that drift slowly upon the winds of time as if done by magic.

MOONLIGHT RAISING
Here within this atmosphere were my frequency vibrates at an level that becomes so intoxicated by my mere senses of my body and soul as it, transcends me to a world unify by my mere existences that floats within the dimensions of the universe drifting through time and space.

From Mushroom Rings To Redwood Trees
Grasp, reluctant to scattered release-
Sprouts of air, into dust drifted seeds-
Floated trip, held high, on springing breeze-
---
All will fall, and find nestle in dirt-
Patience itself, awaiting own birth-
Taking nothing, to give in return-
---
Given to ride, on winds reternal grip-
Embrace of both, released in their kiss-
Anytime dew, formed from crisp fallen mist-
---
Anew lover, formed from flight beneath-
Glimpse of grasp, as symbiotics meet-
And thus, the thirst, gives itself to seed-

Omnipotent Journey
Is it age that has me turn aside,
to think twice because the
turmoil in my life is nothing new.
This time around it’s
different news or seems to be,
though bitter onslaught’ chill
and words are all the same.
Before I’m overwhelmed
this time, I know what I must do,
and I won’t be alone.
From those who try to hold me back
with lists they need for me to fill.
From shouts that try to blame their
wants and woes so hard it seems
the earth will free-fall from its spin
— I soon...

Christmas Trees (A Tree Still Stands)
A bare lot there stands
That used to be forested in fir balsams
Yonder past the glen,
Where chicadee nests rustle softly
Behind which place, flying they now land.
Yellow stumps now where felled
With much commotion to even birds
Their winter chirps had been overheard by
Men in flannel shirts and leather gloves,
Raining sawdust as they worked.
I saw a man the other day
With woodchips on his clothes and in his beard
Heading down from behind the hill
His eyes twinkling, greeting hello.
Then I heard a...

The Road Not Taken (Autumn Woods: A Poet’s Road)
Deep in the woods I saw a clearing ever winding into its depths.
Pulled, I was to walk untoward, leveling each untrodden dirt mound.
I wondered what secrets could it hold, for what could I resist it without regret.
I had not seen all I desired to see and would by evening yet,
My resistance to my own curiosity fell in haste to the ground.
I felt a chill come over me, a crisp Autumn pang I imbibed,
I knew if I did not go forth the snow would bury truths undiscovered, unfound.
I wondered what was under each leaf, what had I yet not...

The Sacred Art of Self Decoration with Monarch Butterflies
(Butterfly Contemplation)
There comes a time when doing what you want
without regard for other living things,
because there’s nothing that exists like you.
Will show all of your faults, and constant haunt
with smallest creature Mother Nature brings,
until you have the sense for what to do.
And who but I of noble tiger breed,
would take exception being told the rules
and heavy-handed lessons, to become
a new example living by the...
