Forest of Soul
I don't want to be a burden to you
Don't wish to be a cloud on your sunny day
I wish I could silence my shadows
For at times they just seem so loud
I'll never be as bright as sun light,
I'll never match the rainbows in the sky
My darkness lingers throughout my soul
Always hiding in the cracks of my mind
Tangling my feet at every step forwards
I'm sorry that I make you sad with my story
I try to hide my tears but so often I fail
Going from rain to hail in one small glimmer
I crumble so often under my own expectation ...

Grey Wool & Little Feather
Grey Wool & Little Feather
When the earth thawed, Mammoths found their personal Manhattan in the Pacific Northwest but with their own trumpet instead of car horns. Mammoths were among the original vegans and the island was like getting to raid the 24-hour salad bar on a cruise ship. They were luckier than pigeons in Yankee Stadium with walnuts as leftovers instead of popcorn.
The hairy behemoths became grandparent figures for the humans. Thereby the sacred purpose of the lumbering beasts no longer required sacrifice.
A girl back in the great north rode...

Eöl The Dark Elf of Beleriand
Blacksmith-casted reactional spells,
chemical behaviour of elements metallic;
clatter, flames and melting smell,
compounds and alloys, mixed and graphic.
Ferrous iron, as black as His Soul,
non-ferrous coloured low weight standards,
Eol The Elf, He Did Quite Know,
how to Yield this Science's hazards.
He forged shining dark Galvorn,
a metal inspired by Dwarven friends,
hard as their steel but malleable, worn
as suit of armour in the Woodland realms.
Nan Elmoth, oh fairytale shadowed,
a forest in...

Rainbow Gathering
Rainbow Gathering
The northern hills loom lyrically in windy wild abandon rising like humpback whales under Arcadian skies. Martha leaps out of the car and into the pool of light. There a grey-haired man lies in a lawn chair. Martha lunges at him and interrogates with, “What are ya’ll doing out here?”
His visage folds like a deck of cards. “I’m just chilling and eating a peanut butter sandwich.”
Huddled hippies gather, refugees from capitalism. A beautiful gypsy girl stops to greet us offering us repast in our lonely trek through life. We share a meal with her...

Angel Eyes (A Witche's Tale)
and so
the man came and told
the frightened woman
of her husband's demise
that soldier
a true man of honor
who called her angel eyes
then when he left
she grabbed a
white cloth
dampened it
a little
wiped her eyes with it
and cried out
to no one
she grabbed up
the string of beads
where they lay in
the wooden box
she kept it in

Forest walk
Boss gave us a day off –
“take time to reflect and relax”
Smart, he knew we all needed it
So here I am, taking my writing book to my favourite trail
Bench #1 - Letting go
Deep breaths, the prescription for relaxation
just inhaling the scent
balsam, cedar, spruce, pine
I took off my sunglasses
so I can take it all in
unfiltered
*
So, we’re on to a new phase, re-opening --
Just when I finally got used to
the low-grade anxiety
the wiping of all the things
the distancing and isolation -- ...

Decay (NaPo 30/30)
On a moonlit night, a forest, deep within,
Death smiled his cruel grin,
As searchers mourned the absence of their daughter
And sister,
Not knowing they will have to be truly mourning
In the morning.
For peeking just out from the pristine, newly fallen snow,
Two glass marbles out of their sockets, that they know,
Were left from Death's game of marbles on that cold, winter's day,
Left to rest, knowing they would be six feet under, soon, just like her, a mile away,
Smiling all the way.
A smile that is real,
For a smile made...

GLIMPSES INTO THE PAST
Could you ever imagine a WORLD, were there is no more suffering of the human race young and old no matter the color of your skin, were we all can come and live together as one in peace and harmony.
Could you ever imagine a WORLD, were natures waters flows merely untouch by the hands of man as it is pure with no chemicals added, to dulate the real pureness of an natural stream that runs free as the fishes of the seas and streams can swim free. Could you ever imagine a WORLD, were there is no more wars or fighting against far away countries even amongst...

The Things That Trees do Hear
Oh, if the trees could talk!
The stories they would tell!
Of lovers, or family members, out for a spring walk,
Of the beautifully overcast afternoon wishes, made at the "Ol' Wishing Well",
Of lumberjacks at work, and of gardeners planting trees.
Of the lovesick, picking flowers for their betrothed or longingly searching for answers as they pick the petals off a daisy,
Of twittering birds, fluttering butterflies, and buzzing honeybees,
Of morning strolls with a hot coffee.
Of dappled sunlight, spring showers, and the ocassional mushroom growth, ...

Plym above the Weir
Mid October, river level 0.7 and rising, 14°c, 400m
I was told not to swim above a weir,
too fast flowing, apparently you'd roll beneath, hit again,
again and again by the weight of water.
The burn is back,
churns my nerve
pushed against the pace of a fast flowing weir.
We enter above
scramble
barefoot over upturned slate and rubble,
fumble
for a little courage, splash
neck, forearms, breast
and sink,
slow,
into cold.
I let it settle
around the extremities as if nettle stings...

Into The Woods
Away from the home a little girl roamed farther and farther she strayed.
Then in a rush she went deep in the brush until hopelessly losing her way.
Fighting her fear till shedding a tear she pondered a horrible fate.
She sat on the ground while looking around as it grew terribly late.
Among the timbering oak one gently spoke to the trembling child.
“Please have no fear, you’ll be safe with us here, sheltered from the wild.”
Shocked and surprised she doubted her eyes and her betraying ears.
Then one by one more trees joined in the fun to calm the little girls...

OUTSIDE THE BOX
As the season slowly beings to change and fall appears upon and within the trees that slowly begin to change there colors, and the skies change from baby blue to dark and gray mix with a touch of white puffy clouds, that drift slowly upon the winds of time as if done by magic.
