The dreams and hopes of youth

the function of life experiences
and also the loss of naivety
A lad in junior and senior high
wanted to shape government

US Senator of the most populated state
Head heroes, some who were politicians
others who critiqued society with songs
poems and dramatic parts
a strong sense of connectivity
Working my way through under graduate
and volunteering on campaigns
I relished actively engaging people

Another Colossus?
Whiles valiantly attempting slumber I heard a broadcast, which I'm certain was the radio, regarding singer Kate Smith. Though long deceased, she is just now finally getting into trouble about singing a racist song or two. I do not sympathize with her since I am convinced that I would have gotten into Dutch right away had I been the culprit singer.
It is noteworthy that there is a now disgraced statue of her that has been removed from it's place of honor and covered up by a cloth. I am all for it. In fact, we should regularly replace all statuary every twenty years or so. (Good for...

Am I, my own worst enemy
Because I'm believing what the news is telling me
Once an entity within itself, protected by the constitution
Then shitted on the public at large and then joined the institution
Shit getting pimped by every politician with or seeking an office
Each telling the same fucking lie and hoping that you don't notice
They say, "climate change is just bullshit about as real as planet X
If we listen to the scientist on this, who knows what's next"
They have collectively joined forces, although they deny it to the...

Still Missing You, Bobby
It was fifty four years yesterday
that we lost a connector of hopes
a link between many communities
whose ilk may not be seen again
Born into a family with wealth
his father still had the scars
of the prejudice of being devoutly Catholic
new money in the established corridors of power
Trained as a lawyer but with scant court experience
he worked for Joe McCarthy and it has even been said
conservative tendencies lined his politics
courting advocates of "segregation for ever"
As campaign manager for his...

Fat Cats
Fat cats, your pockets shouldn't be bulging like that
Clear your minds by giving it all back
Fat cat, how much do you need before it stops making sense
Being broke and needy are no longer your defense
To see the world I climbed atop a garbage heap
There were so many below me screaming for just a peep
From here upon my throne made of trash
I could see the line where our two worlds clashed
The have-nots were rebelling, the illusion was fading fast
The fat cats had depended on an illusion that simply couldn't last

Collected Poems Of The Great War
COLLECTED POEMS OF THE GREAT WAR
A CENTURY ON
By
Alan S Jeeves
******
THE EDWARDIANS OF ENGLAND
Victoria has gone and darkness too
The gleam glints through the black bounded railings;
As an empire exalts - a new day's dawn -
And the Pretoria Boers shed their arms
For, a prince is crowned in the bright sunlight
And jolly is coming for one and all.
The men boast moustaches tickling their nose
And long skirted women fleer behind fans,
Dressing their children in clean sailor suits
And reading them...

To bludgeon me, shoot me, doesn't end me
The cracking of the flesh releases the spirit introducing me
To what really is instead of this warped version of reality
The freeing of the spirit allows me to see, that we're all shackle, thinking we're free
Garbage piled miles high all around
The walls of your imagined Jericho long ago came tumbling down
The master program was attacked by a trojan
That keeps us seeing what isn't there again and again
We fight each other over nothing, because nothing is all that we know
Those that have...

Hammer on Hammer of the Witches
Section I (Inquisition & Confessions)
‘we ask all the questions here, more concerned
with what the devil does, than reading our holy text
we’ll even refer to a book, based on prolific imagination
so complex , it will make poor simple people vexed
and sign the papers off, licensing our deviation
for the gain of your estate, and plunder of possessions
after wholesale extirpation’
‘anything different, strange, or misunderstood
is enough to set you on our racks
and “confess”, to all our machinations
if you don’t squeal, under...

Admit It
To hear the words coming out of her mouth that she knew I despised
Still spitting venom as the life fled from her eyes
She was a force to be reckoned with, no one could deny
As she laid there dying, she said you're dead but will not die
I felt a cold hand grip my heart in the middle of a beat
I watched as she fought for her last breath, gripping the sheets
Little did I know that I had just been cursed
Little did I know the tighten around my heart would only get worse
I watched as a small trail of blood slid down the side of her face
The...

Open Your Eyes
Over half of what we write isn't fucking shit
We'ld rather you stab us in the fucking throat than agree with it
Disdain portrayed, uncertain aggression
How can you be assured that I've learned my lesson
As we write this shit our chest constantly swells
This bitch looks like death and fucking smells like hell
Let's take this shit to a whole different level
You're on level two, but think that you're a rebel
Where can we go without flesh
Stripped to nothing and with nothing left
The flesh is only associated with fucking emotions ...

The Snip
congratulations!
mother! father!
remember that day
when your son was born!
joy!
a robust healthy boy!
celebrate!
a question for the proud parents:
is your son circumcised?
if you answered ‘no’
stop reading here
if you answered ‘yes’
there are a few more questions
you should ask yourself
did you do everything you could
to protect your baby boy
from pain and suffering?
did you do everything in your power
to insure his physical
