Another Colossus?

Whiles valiantly attempting slumber I heard a broadcast, which I'm certain was the radio, regarding singer Kate Smith. Though long deceased, she is just now finally getting into trouble about singing a racist song or two. I do not sympathize with her since I am convinced that I would have gotten into Dutch right away had I been the culprit singer.
It is noteworthy that there is a now disgraced statue of her that has been removed from it's place of honor and covered up by a cloth. I am all for it. In fact, we should regularly replace all statuary every twenty years or so. (Good for the statue business you know.)
In the spirit of placing currency where mouths are at I believe we should start with Lady Liberty herself. The magnificent colossus supervising New York Harbor should be swapped out for one of Jennifer Lopez sporting a glittery mini skirt since we now only accept immigrants who are already celebrities. I suppose we could make it Beyoncé since she looks equally angry and anger is so popular these days. Perhaps it has something to do with the terrible footwear they are forced to perform in.
Oh here I must correct myself since I realize that they are already citizens in spite of their charming dermatological hues. Better late than never where realization is concerned, which is why I implore the deplorables to treat themselves to a reread, or in most cases a more likely first reading of the famous 1883 sonnet "The New Colossus" by Emma Lazarus.
The current administration in our nation's capitol has made it clear that "tired, poor, and huddled masses" are no longer de rigueur.
I'm sure they would agree that J-Lo or Beyoncé must have a phrase just as catchy.
I often wonder that should the Empire State choose to keep the enormous green Frenchwoman, will they more accurately refer to her dated attire as a "freedom burqa"? Surely that is an unfashionably sweaty sort of oxymoron now that the globe is being incubated in excess carbon dioxide. The mini skirt is making more sense with every passing year but are we not now a nation of pirates where "booty" has become more valuable than freedom?
I am holding out for both.
