Dream Path

Many a night, a dream path I’ll go
The memory of those trysts, here where I stow
So present to me, the seams of your face
Where in the waking world I cannot trace

It is a ceaseless endeavor every night
To slip away where I can bask in your light
To pretend for a moment, my heart does not ache
Though I know it should return the moment I wake

Tonight, in gold, I see you there
Reach out to touch but only touch air
An ever reminder of the space between
That you are you and I, never seen

So I’ll awake to the dull breath of day
Bind up my feet so that they won’t sway
And for the day I know I’ll be granted
One single glimpse that will leave me forever enchanted
