In our silence
This is where we find
darkness lurking
where there was
once light
We find apathy
where we once screamed
& we find hate hiding
where there was
once love
In our silence
we have planted
tentacles of technology
that creep & crawl
thru our consciousness
crunching on blood
& bone
with crazy Frankenstein
teeth & claws
In our silence
we are frozen figures
of fear
waiting for the right
fucking moment
to point the gun
& pull
the trigger

Re. In our silence
I know what it's like to have darkness lurking and even to come to feel like you belong there. Darkness so easily invades the light. Like a black hole where the intense gravity actually pulls the light in so you can no longer see it. The light is still there but it's no longer visible. Apathy is worse than depression I think; with Apathy you have literally given up in a way whereas depression you are still hanging on to feelings. Hate can also be a pervasive emotion. I find personally that I would be hurt rather than hate. The tentacles of technology has changed human interaction in so many ways. I like the representation of creeping and crawling, and also transformation. In many ways technology can be damaging to direct human interaction. Even taking photos constantly rather than actually 'living' the moment and making those memories. Often the observer waiting for the right moment rather than realizing that it IS the right moment, you just have to live it.

I love your comment Kristina...I personally believe that we have entered the state of nihilism that Nietzsche warned was coming in the 21st century.
Many thanks my friend.

I like the way this brooding poem builds the tension in the background, holding down the silence, until it can be be held down no longer and explodes onto the stage of life. Great write; and great to read you again.
