Living The Pseudo-Life

i can sing advertising jingles from the fifties and sixties
(entertaining but of no real value)

i can name oscar winners emmy winners super bowl winners
(interesting but not much of a survival skill)

that’s all nice

but i wish i was multilingual
i wish i could read music

i wish i could dance paint sculpt

our culture places high value
on pseudo society

athletes earn more in one game than some
(like teachers and nurses) earn their whole career

some CEOs earn a thousand times
more than line workers

i wish i knew more botany
physics astronomy geology

from the time we are born
we’re exposed to devices that

separate

us

from the

world

devices keep us living in digital fantasy
unrelated to dirt plants skies trees stars

i wish we were better able to experience life
without pixels under glass
