to be
something more,
combined,
a community.

Generation Snowflake
A snowflake is a self-absorbed, entitled, overly emotional individual.
Whose to blame?
Children born after 1980 received a consistent message from adults: life is dangerous.
Adults/Parents will do everything in their power to protect you from harm, not just from strangers.
They describe how their childhood itself has changed greatly during the past generation.
Many Baby Boomers and Gen Xers can remember riding their bicycles around their hometowns, unchaperoned by adults, by the time they were 8 or 9 years old.
In the hours...

The Celebration Of Femineity
I was the conductor of the Underground Railroad for eight years, and I can say what most conductors can't say; I never ran my train off the track and I never lost a passenger.
Harriet Tubman
I am a little late; however, the celebration continues for the creation of us women given unto man as a gift from the Almighty Creator.
In the midst of my femininity, I had my Annual gynecological with fasting lab, I had a dental cleaning, no cavities, my gums are still healthy and not receding.
What is meant when you say Woman’s International Day...

around and around
around
and around
this world
she goes,
clear
locations
outside
her windows,
a simple
promise
she makes
to herself,
she holds
them close
in
her hands,
blessed by
the truth,
and
the chance
to share
her talent,
herself.

hiraeth soul
Despite my mind thinking rationally
And my heart feeling wholly
My soul rejects the fundamental possession of this life.
Yearning for the ancient
It quietly cries and seethes and grieves
No matter the lightness my body seeks
My soul remains heavy in custody
Seeping into my unfocused mind
And scraping into my weary bones
Whispering to my heart that this is not the way
But it is what we are given this day
Nourishment for disease
Thoughts for illness
Sustenance for greed
Material for meaning ...

The piper
I open my eyes
To the morning suns glow
And chase my dreams
Across the raging sea
I follow my muse
Along the whispered winds
I stumble through fields
Glazed with the studded stars
The maddened king knows
And I bet his harem girls do
Frightened mystic cries my name
Cause I've seen his truth
When the beast has been awakened
The ground will rumble
Armies shriek in terror at his roar
Ancient city walls will tumble
Knowing the piper is here
To collect his debt

Now, Just Deserts
Once a shadow and now, just deserts
of an abscess analysis gone to rind
as the cracker grinds the soul
of moral decay ashes and dust
now pâté for a hole in the ground
a hypocrite bound to awaken the dead

jaguar priestess
tattooed in Mayan glyphs
basket of sunshine
bonnet
of bougainvillea petals
wreath of sun flames
earth birth
inked on her cappuccino back
Popol Vuh
elders chant
to bongo drums
earth’s heartbeat
lake texcoco
shimmers in moonlight
her sheen
roots descend
from banyan boughs
her cathedral

A quick fix
Stoking anger
Feeling superior
To the idiots
The weak
Snowflakes
Troglodytes
Who don’t get it
See the world your way
The business of outrage
Feeding the need
Echoes of what you want to hear
Big business
Conspiracies
Cons
Needing an enemy
The other
To vilify
Driving wedges between people
Accepting the extremists view of the other.

everything can become anything
when our culture can
manipulate us into not
believing the facts
of our 5 senses
that is when our minds
will become senseless

migrant workers
the pain is etched
on each face,
heavy loads being carried
under constant strain,
moving to gather crops
in the blistering sun,
weathered skin
under shaded hats,
bone, muscle and souls
all sore and tired,
moving back and forth
finishing the day's labor,
still overworked and underpaid
so a few rich can have more,
while the poor are nourished
by strong will and determination.
