Hammer Horror
like m.c.
hip hopping away
it hit like
a wrecking ball
he’s getting hammered
she's getting nailed
something romantic
about self-destruction
sabotaging a life
taking a hammer to it
maxwells silver
knocking in some sense
need a tool
hammer them down
walking road of rocks
keep on hammering
hammer in the morning
in the evening
hammer out danger
hammer out warnings
hammer out love
all over
once in the bell-tower
now...

The Art Of Biting Your Tongue
someone criticizes
anticipating
defensive responses
say nothing
even though
circumstance
begs for more words
remaining quiet
art of
holding your tongue
don’t offer advice
explanations
opinions
these actions
usually
don’t help
art of
not being
lured into action
it takes
considerable strength
a special skill to be quiet
neither
passive
nor weak
many speak too often
say too much
say hurtful things
...

Paradxicality
we often get what we need
not always what we want
sometimes
we get what we want
by asking for it
by working for it
by creating it
sometimes
we don’t get it at all
find what you’re seeking
by closing your eyes
heal your self
by helping others to heal
stay on your path
by listening to your gut
connect with the universe
by disconnecting your mind
desires are not needs
important to know the difference

Be Creative
they are there
the voices
stifling originality
sometimes external
friends family
coworkers clergy
don’t be different!
they are there
the voices
stifling creativity
sometimes internal
remembrances of childhood admonitions
protocols rules restrictions
don’t try something new!
they are there
socialization traumatic experiences,
rejection working
to shut down
our inner creative self
over the course of our live
don’t get it wrong!
over time...

what would you
like to change?
things occupying
attention now
will cease to
sooner or later
what would you
like to preserve?
remain a wanderer
be a nomad
fly walk sail
over all the world
or within
your mind
wander ceaselessly
what are you searching for?
we are destined to outgrow everything
experiences in the world make us who we are
what we are will make us
what we will...

Complex Love
what is
more complex
than love?
knowing most of your life
you’re not the same
as other people
dark desperate desires
you can
hardly admit
wondering
if you’re damaged goods
sick in mind and soul
don’t dare tell anyone
(they’ll know
you’re different)
will never love you
if they know
what you really are
looking at you in a way
you try not to look at yourself
as something twisted and wrong
keeping dark secrets locked away
wanting dark scary...

and moonlight

fuel ignites
music incites
smoke pours
ash implores
spirit soars
hearts sway
souls play
bodies obey

can a single person
living alone
change the world?

in harmony with nature
as much as possible
occasionally venturing
into nearby communities
where i share stories
about rainwater harvesting
permaculture
recusing recycling repurposing
about solar energy
gray water and
reducing carbon footprints
about living with
wild creatures rather than
trying to eliminate them
about the challenges
and joys of being connected
to the environment

Every Breath
what appears
as space
emptiness
is full of air
oxygen nitrogen
carbon dioxide
noble gases
water vapor
sometimes
bitter taste of ash
with each intake empty lungs fill
each inspiration
transformative
composition
different
on exhalation
less oxygen
more carbon dioxide
still air yet different
each breath
transforming us
and the atmosphere
as space
