I have found just that- if people pay for comedy, many (not me) will laugh to get their money's worth. Anyone who thinks someone is a loser for having issues with others probably has more issues than you- and is likely less funny.

Comedy is in a weird place right now.
Everyone is so scared of being cancelled.

I've been to a few and they were always fun - everyone was
relaxed having drinks and enjoyed the show.
Now everyone is so high strung.

On a personal note - always be yourself.
The one's who truly care will stick around and
help you improve your comedy:)

Comedy is so subjective and how we all use it.

Human stuff is fun to examine.

Comedy is a great deflection... so is poetry, and music. Wrap it up in an artsy bow and call it entertainment, and suddenly nobody minds you whining about your problems. But geez, don't actually TALK about that shit! Now that's uncomfortable!  LOL

Actor and comedian always provides content to entertain or deliver a message to the spectator

Perhaps hearing about issues presented on the stage makes people feel better about their own.
They laugh when you can laugh at yourself and that's quite comfortable and uplifting perhaps.
But when you confide in someone, often that's too close for comfort and people want to distance.
Perhaps it's best that I hold most things in and suffer in silence while putting on a great show.
When people 'pay' for something they will often make it fit the expectations to enjoy it.
Definitely agree with Adel that people are so scared of being of being cancelled. (with good reason)
There is always something to get upset about these days it seems.
That's why uninhibited comedy with friends is so much better. :p

I don't know how to be anyone other than me.
To do so would be a lie and despite everything I do for work lying to protect, in real life I like the truth.  I wonder which is funnier ??
I like the suffer in silence line, I do that myself.  Or sneak out the back door when I'm at a party because the truth is I'm all about one on one.

You know I stopped trying to please people a long time ago with my art.  I just do it for me.  When I do commission work once in a while it's such a struggle.  When I do it for me, there's flow.  I haven't painted in several months but the urge is coming back as it always does.  It's an awesome feeling knowing I will return....
