plotting each step
along the way

anticipation
begins to coil 'round
tightening and tightening

prep work keeps a mind sharp
focusing on details
precision is key
using an abundance of care
is so tediously rewarding

a sweat drop rolls
my body starts to ache
knowing
loving the pain a little too much

and momentarily calm

The Old Fashioned
I wax nostalgic
warming all over
from the tip of my tongue
to the pit of my stomach

pungent sweet nectar
coats my mouth, lips tingle
 essence of orange
and maraschino cherry
stir and wake, rippling

needing further indulgence
in preparation for a feast,
a body is urgent for sustenance
a sample feeding
to temporarily quell
 for the time being, anyway

clever foresight
and preparedness pay off
shivers run up my spine
the appetite grows
building
and
building
intensity
swirling gluttony
of ravage thoughts
that eat
and devour

wet warmth, tenderly strong
fulfillment of hunger
pours from drenched recesses
the tastiest morsel
delectable
taste buds flare in sheer delight
to rave reviews

all I see before me
goes dark
stars burst into white pinpoint explosions
within fluid blackness
