The folly of belief— an ode to fill-in-the-blank love letters
"It's sad when someone you know becomes someone you knew" ~Henry Rollins
I start
with the when
forcing my thoughts
to navigate around it
avoiding
so i feel it less
which leaves me darker
more broken tender
thoughts of
-how it should be easier-
then
amidst - during
after
.
.
to today
known
futility
[despite all the constant wishing]
(Ohhh the wishes)
how they
fill
those
vulnerable
spaces
lodged
deep
filling
every
crack
of unenviable folly

Dearest Ron,
Your poetry has its own flair and distinct flavor - one that I'll never ever be able to accomplish, no matter how hard I try ... I deeply appreciate your incredibly kind words... and humbly disagree.... We're just different sides of a big poetry coin... You rhyme with amazingly smooth finesse that I will never match, usually delving into the vibrant sexy, dirty side of life that 99.9% of the population drool over and only wish and fantasize that they too could be as free, willing and open as your poetry gives them the ability to dream they can be..... It's also about the amount of "reads".... Your poems are always through the roof, with the amount of reads you receive .... People aren't reading because the DON'T like your work.... It's because the LOVE it.....💯
(remember that!)
You're a truly awesome friend and I can't even believe how fortunate I am to have you in my corner.... It's vice versa too!! (I'm forever in your corner, too!)
I wholeheartedly appreciate and adore your visit!
Hugs and kisses.... your way ✨ 💫 ✨

Awww.... Thank you dear friend 🙏🏻
It's mostly musings with only an underlying inkling of reality.... I guess I'm purging a bit.... but it was just there.... So I plucked it out and tried my best to string together something coherent... haha 😂
I humbly thank you, C
Your visits make me feel like I have really accomplished something... well. ... I know that sounds weird... but it's true.... 🤷🏻♀️... (I'm a strange one!)
Much love and respect from across the pond

The very short lines give the poem a cracked and broken quality that works with the theme of a relationship falling apart.

I went round and round in my head, thinking it my come across as feeling too chopped up and disjointed... So I am extremely appreciative of this particular observation, it felt that way to me as well...
Thank you for reaching out— means a lot to me,

Epic.
Each line tragically beautiful.
Hearts silently breaking everywhere as eyes find your words.
Empathy flows across our stormy sea.

Hey there, Tim ;)
Thanks for the solidarity of thought and the poignant comments. I can relate, 100% to what you've described /are saying. That's certainly rough and I'm saddened that happened to you... I hope you've healed since then.
Just my varied thoughts .... and where my head was.
Once again, thanks so much for visiting... it means a lot to me.... I hope you are doing well.

Dear BV,
Nothing worse. Being exposed, humiliated, vulnerable, diminished. I could go on forever. And all at the hands is someone you thought you could trust. It’s the worst. You can rewire your brain to forget any of either which even if you can forgive it on any level you’re still stuck with the memory of it and the visceral reaction. Blech! Treachery and blech! Now. How you’ve put a romantic writers spin in it is beyond me. That’s what’s called talent. Yeah. I don’t have that. Which is why we flock to you to salve our open wounds. Painful write yet, beautiful in its own fashion.

I am totally blown away by this comment, Honoria...Seriously.... I'm truly speechless and at a loss for the proper words to convey how much I appreciate it/you(it, meaning everything you do) and I fully believe you're the sole entity here on DUP that shines of such positive and generous a light, that we are all truly lucky enough to bask lovingly in it's warmth.....
All my deepest gratitude.

Once again the spacing is your signature ... you master it so well ... clever play with capitalization of the "i:" ... hints of ee cummings ... also love the upside down envelope ... great write B ... a definite keeper ...

This is a "break the bottle and take that ship outta here" poem. (Ship in the bottle. Lol)
I've read it three times, to take it all in. Because it's so complex. Like those thoughts we get when we're contemplating every single aspect of every single thing, because free time is hell on thinkers.
I like complex. I like to think, therefore this is not just a read, it's an experience.
Awesome.

Re: Re. The folly of belief— an ode to fill-in-the-blank love letters
I like that idea, S... kind of a, " break in case of emergency!" feeling, to me... hahaha. I claim absolutely zero amounts of complexity!! ... 🖐🏻.. lol. I kid!... Seriously though, It's seemingly that way because it's vague and not very concise in my writing.... Partially intended and partially because that's just how I right, sadly!
I too, like to ponder, so I am grateful we're similar. That makes for true enchanting and enjoyable reads for us both!!
I deeply appreciate you taking the time to leave me your thoughts. I don't take that kindness lightly and I'm sincere in my gratitude.
I hope you have a great Thanksgiving.

Well, there's certainly a bit of truth in that sentiment, as far as overcoming, myself? ....Hmmm... I am a work in progress, so I am definitely still chock full of pain in one form or another...

Hello dear: Indeed social media has a lot of negative sides but it also has a number of positive sides in that it helps people to communicate, exchange, let some of the steam out of their system. Eschanging with people on this particular site help me a good deal and exchanging especially with you is definitely a big plus. Kisses, Robert.

Dear Robert,
Yes, I too agree about the strength of the positive aspects of social media, especially when we all have access to such a variety of people, cultures, and information from all over the world. It's truly astonishing and such a bonus that we never could imagine or comprehended 20-30 years ago. Those benefits stretch far and wide and makes us more rounded individuals. Yet with great power like that also comes the will of the dark seedy underbelly of humanity. It's a sad unfortunate truth and ingrained in human nature, to take advantage of a positive situation at all costs. I am not saying it's a large majority of humanity, only a cross section; yet they are there and present, on social media and because of that, it's a cautionary tale that I reiterate via poetry. Being on your toes with awareness, keeps the opportunity open and sustainable for positive online contact to continue to flourish.... like the ones we have here on DUP.
I am so grateful for your visits and for your thoughtful and truly valuable insights. You too, are part of the reason that I still enjoy DU and continue to stay, despite my ups and downs here!
Much love and respect your way ✨
Hope you are doing well -
