Pearl
My soul is like a pearl
lying on the ocean floor ...
Her shelter is known only to the moon,
its radiance is muffled by a wave ...
My home is a lost shell
I lie here, in a transparent silence
It's good for me to lie at the bottom
I love my turquoise vacuum
It's so nice to swim in zero gravity
Look at the clouds through the water
And to be lost in the midst of or in the sand,
plankton and swaying algae
My underwater observatory
silence and mystery surround
I know what no one knows
I remember my ancient history:
Cold Space, the attraction of black holes
Giant Explosion, Universal Hurricane
Flying ... and I'm falling into the Ocean
a shard of a dazzling star ...
I am the key to reading the Diamond Sutra
My soul will last forever
a tear of divine ...,
fallen into the sea and frozen in mother-of-pearl ...
I like to be a gray statue
Hide under a thin shell split
Cosmic Gold Treasures
Their secret brilliance, their eternal radiance ...
I'm only afraid of divers - seekers
I'm afraid one lucky swimmer
will reveal my secret at last
will find a lost shell at the bottom
I'm afraid someone might conclude
my shine in a rough frame
I'm afraid - I can't bear such "amendments"
I'm afraid I can't protect myself ...
I'm afraid there is no place for me up there; -
I will not be able to decorate someone's life
In captivity - I'll fade, fade
and lose my magic light
Can't hold the grail of holy water
I will not keep the winged fire inside
And I will forget that I was once
a shard of a dazzling star ...
lying on the ocean floor ...
Her shelter is known only to the moon,
its radiance is muffled by a wave ...
My home is a lost shell
I lie here, in a transparent silence
It's good for me to lie at the bottom

It reads even beautiful a second time, we also love the darkness to the piece. Tight

Just, wow... You're constantly leaving me in amazement, KristinaX
Your voice during this read, had my heart aching along with you... This desire I derived from the ending, to be only what you REALLY are meant to be, and not some manufactured version, that fear of being discovered as possibly something you aren't, or worse, forgetting who you are, just drilled into my core. What a write of honest, open, vulnerability. In doing that (writing so openly) you show just how strong you really are.
Beautifully, beautifully done,
Ty for sharing

I'm glad to hear I could make smile. What you don't know is that I never say anything to be mean but I also never say anything I don't mean. I don't think you realize just how abundantly talented that you are. You have produced something quite praise worthy with this great poem.

I love the natural darkness to this brilliant poem Kristina...and the connection to the "Diamond Sutra" is wonderful.
‘All dharmas are devoid of marks because they are apart
from the many marks. All dharmas are wishless, because
they are without seeking. All dharmas are still, because
they are eternally quiescent. All dharmas are impermanent,
because they are without a permanent nature. All dharmas
are without bliss, because there is nothing which can be
blissful. All dharmas are without self, because they have
no self-mastery. All dharmas are devoid of purity, because
they are apart from the mark of purity. All dharmas cannot
be obtained, because in searching for their mark, it cannot
be found.
🙏 Harry

As with so many of your poem I love this piece. The image is a wonderful contrast of the hard, gnarled appearing shell with such beauty within...an aquatic don't judge a book...
Turquoise is to me a romantic, mystical color and your use in this peace is delicious,
"I love my turquoise vacuum"
The fantastical idea and imagery surrounding the idea of the pearl, you, being a shard of a brilliant star is so beautiful❣❣
You need to find someone who will embrace your brilliance not stifle or in any way diminish your shine. You are becoming a bright star in our poetry firmament. Shine on BD❤

Your metaphors are fluidly rendered, with a lovely pace and sense of intimacy throughout. I feel the macrocosmic and the microcosmic in oscillation and proportion. Beautifully rendered.

I loved the ambiance and setting from the very beginning, how this treasure is kept a secret.
That ending line is brilliant too. You have a lot of fans of your work Kristina. Great work!

KX, I am truly in awe by this beautiful poem. This exquisite write speaks to me. I find that your incredibly descriptive write of imagery and metaphors tells a compelling tale of feeling lost, afraid, and vulnerable yet at home surrounded by so much beauty and power. The impact of your very first 6 words alone, ''My soul is like a pearl " set the tone for an amazing emotional journey with every succeeding word.... A pearl is a treasured jewel acquired by pain and injury to an oyster. That healed wound is what produces a beautiful pearl. A perfect simile to your beautiful vulnerable soul so eloquently portrayed in the splendid poem!!!

Thank you you so much for the very thoughtful comment. I think the creation of a pearl is a good metaphor for people. "Natural Pearls form when an irritant - usually a parasite and not the proverbial grain of sand - works its way into an oyster, mussel, or clam. As a defense mechanism, a fluid is used to coat the irritant. Layer upon layer of this coating, called 'nacre', is deposited until a lustrous pearl is formed."
I think we have all been shaped by parasites and irritants (which we can be as well) in some way. :) Our defense mechanisms helping to shape us, good and bad, but no doubt we all have our nacre shielding, which also produces that outer image that we show to others. So often family and a lover is the only one that gets to see past that, at least to some extent.
I am really glad you found this one beautiful and meaningful. Also, that you understood the metaphors and imagery so well. Thanks again for your wonderful comments. 💖
