Ennui

That word is a bittersweet pill
to hold all the poison and pain
that comes with depression,
Though I dislike vehemently the actual pronunciation:
'On-wee'.
How despicable!
How French.
How insipid and languid
like a bored wank into oblivion.
What a piss poor passing of a phrase.
I prefer a tragic Greek lilt to it:
'U-noy'
You know that pain: it is universal,
The despair that comes with simply being,
The fading sunset glory of joy
that tinges the skyline of mortality
as it bleeds into oblivion:
Elegiac and longing, you know the feeling.
'U-noy' has a terrible dignity;
'On-wee' can fuck off like any other irritation and headache.
'U-noy' is a tragic flaw, fighting to the end.
