Water Vapor
There's a silence
When I view the clouds
That doesn't happen anytime else.
The rolling anvil-heads
And sky wisps
The cirrus
And the cumulonimbus
Bathing in the sun's light.
The sun burns at 9940°
And yet the rays
Are this pale white yellow
Soft and still
And I lose myself
Looking at the great mounds of white and grey
Millions of pounds of water
Illuminated and bright
Because it is all impermanent;
So much presence, floating,
That won't be there if the wind
Blew quickly for an hour.
