Quiet Haiku🌿
( renga with linked haiku )
🐅
a tapir stays low
holds its breath in the stillness
—motionless tiger
🐊
a crocodile slips
soundless into the river
—startled cranes flying
🌌
from steamy night’s heat
a full moon shimmers brightly
—the sleeping village

This trilogy is furnished with great thought, which, in turn, furnishes the soul with splendor.
The wonderful explosion of a quiet theme!

*with bowed head*
Humble thanks, dear Sky, for such a pairing of inspiration. Haiku has been my rock since I became a haijin (poet of Japanese short form poetry) at the start of 2008. I studied & wrote it straight through that year, then later I taught it and became a mentor.
As for it’s like you watching Steve Vai on guitar, that’s another honor. I got to watch him play “For The Love Of God” once. And I’m one of over 378,000 subscribers of his own personal YouTube account.
So bless you, sister.

Thank you, my friend, I’m so pleased by your response, and I appreciate you stopping by with your thoughts.
Oh yes that doesn’t surprise me, brother, I just thought I would provide a little blurb to give others a chance to learn about the animal who don’t know. From many comments I have seen you post, you are a font of information I enjoy reading.

Haiku can be a difficult format. I feel often we tend to get lost between the lines, which are intended traditionally to carry a message to fruition. Sometimes too physical, sometimes too ephemeral, but I feel you have balanced the elements well in these lines. There is the spiritual quality beyond the natural elements, each message carried through subtly and fully. An enjoyable experience.

I'm picturing the opening scene of a film/book and am wondering what happens next ... beautifully evocative.

There is so much beauty in nature, I know you agree. Your haiku fit in peacefully beside that beauty in a wonderful way, Jade. Thanks.

The haiku may be quiet but it resonates with me. Well done! I think Ninja would agree.

Dear tomcat...
her prowl light as air
