Poet Introduction
We’ll always have Gallop.♡
Camouflage
I’ve been there many times before,
I’ve walked the line, I’ve drawn it fine.
Unbalanced, unafraid of it,
So I can sabotage myself
To fall more often than I should,
The way I’m wired, turned around.
I think I recognize the times
It’s happening to me and still
I let the free fall vortex yawn
That swallows my identity.
I disappear most ways as one,
But you can’t tell, you won’t see me.
Yet in my life with poetry,
The more you read, I’m everywhere.
My po’ems, all, a puzzle piece,
To gather,...

Gaslight
I calmly go inside to dim the lights,
All Hallows’ Eve, my favorite time of year.
My home’s an old Victorian by night
To meet & greet the ghosts & goblins here.
The mood of gaslight adds a mystery;
I calmly go inside to dim the lights.
The evening’s like my favorite China tea,
Each child who visits me is my delight.
Selecting younger ones as tender bites,
They quickly disappear in little cakes.
I calmly go inside to dim the lights,
Enticing those who come with treats I bake.
I shine my pumpkin...

Spinning
In dark fires
of viral truths,
my spirit dances—
a dervish
with this right hand
held up and open
to receive God’s grace,
this left hand faces down
towards the earth,
to give grace and light
to a world reborn.

Heaven
( a Rensaku = linked Tanka )
✈️
before Corona,
Mother had stepped out of time
just before morning,
and into eternity—
It was brief, but beautiful
✈️
her journey blessed me,
and taught me about heaven;
I knew she was there
with the sunrise at her back,
and I’ll miss her till we meet
✈️
I, unplanned, arrived
when her first 2 daughters
were young women,
and so our parents began
to start all over again

Chanel 5
( a femme fatale )
I only wanted to be of
pleasurable service in the world,
wafting through the spas, and
bedrooms of movie stars, lovers
and international intrigue.
But the pandemic,
in its flush of counting bodies
and taking names, brought
circumstance down to the
lowest common denominator.
I’m a sociable mindset that
brought light to haunt depths
both day and night, no matter
how close or corrupt.
A slender silhouette of scent
moving sly among the crowd
without precaution...

Behind a Loneliness
( a Quatern )
Behind a loneliness that grows a stain,
There is no reason to remember why.
A heavy deluge of my thoughts like rain
Is spreading ‘cross the ceiling like a sigh.
A split begins to crawl across the space
Behind a loneliness that grows a stain,
As spider veins will turn into a face
With hollow eyes expressive of its pain.
A pall of weariness, a constant drain
Is keeping me from rising where I lay.
Behind a loneliness that grows a stain,
The storm will keep me hidden from the day

To Find the Moon Forever Lost
I never thought a day might come,
When everything I felt should last
To never ask where they came from,
So quickly turn into the past.
And not just what was yesterday
In my own little land of thought,
My memories weren’t meant to stray
Reminders of what I was taught.
For still I have this wanderlust
To covet and yet sacrifice.
Why shrinking life of only just
A precious few down to one vice.
What kind of messages to send,
The future beats an empty drum
For those of us who see no end;
The darkest winter...
When everything I felt should last
To never ask where they came from,

The New Tang
Of all the weird things going on today
With scientists & politician fame,
About fake news, conspiracies & death,
The way the media is dropping names.
Suggestions coming in for miracles
From bleach & PineSol, household iodine.
You’ll find something under a basin sink
To curing common colds with 409.
But long before COVID-19 arrived,
Were kids who never had enough to eat.
A mix of vitamin and minerals
Was made, enriching food like it was meat.
So comes an age of putting to the test
A powder upon...

Racing to Flower
( a Renga )
bluebells bursting—
swallows over Sahara
chasing their rebirth
racing to flower
before air becomes acid
like no other spring
or vengeful hornets
killing bees as they forage
—nothing will grow
pandemic—
warm days come on wings
but who shall harvest
far from a garden
more silent than birdsong

Fashionista! #15: Flattening the Curve
(Manhattan tiger lockdown)
Well here I am, the panic’s got me caged
Just like a million others in this town.
I wouldn’t mind if it were all the rage
In quarantine while COVID’s going round.
My daughter’s doing lessons on her Pad
Secluded in her room the way she likes.
I’m catching up on all the latest fads
In fashion ads last Fall betwixt the spikes.
It isn’t spikes that has me feeling down
Or even that there’s not much to live on.
Manhattan is my home & my playground,
A party that I’d throw...

From The Belov’ed
After l have a microwaveable
half chicken pot pie for dinner
I mute the news according to
Trump, to fix some Twinings,
then put my feet up for a read
of verses chosen by Jackie O.
I gradually realize it’s outside,
there’s the lilting mesmerized
vibe of a middle eastern sing
drifting from out a screenless
apartment window where we
are all isolated now that night
has fallen & the courtyard is
serenely still around the pool.
The older man is Arabic I think ...

Evil Blossoms
What I don’t understand
Answers something in me
And so I seek, walking
Feel nettles prick my skin
Hear hornets chastising
Menacing hovered ears
It’s irresistible
Because it’s contagious
I’ve always refused their
Magic gypsy potion
My body doesn’t fight
Does not forbid passage
Welcomes the sinister
Like beautiful bouquets
Indeed that’s how it looks
Both attracts and will kill
Like a lover possessed ...
