Shapeshifter
Shapeshifter
She is in water,
between lands,
body full and blue and still,
exhaling.
Grasses move,
shoals flash by her,
submarine volcanoes erupt -
in near silence.
She is
between spaces,
without judgement,
analysing
what was once left
on shore.
There,
between the then and now,
between the loss and growth,
she is neither malleable nor ridged,
ruined nor fully built,
neither healed nor wounded
and there,
in the inbetween,
where stars have eyes ...

Playing Possum
Caught a possum yesterday while I was cleaning out the barn. She showed her teeth ready to attack. I gently scratched her head, no fear of her teeth really. Being bitten would at least allow me to feel as if I'm not dead.
I named her Sassy, she growled at me over and over again. Yet right before I let her go she quieted down and cuddled in my arms. Her defense mechanism resonated with me, I dont let anyone close, I show teeth if I know they are getting too close, then I play dead when they ask too much of a tired, worn out me. Even if its just a, hi, how ya doing? When I went back to...

Clit Bait
So handsome and hung
He knew all the She-bears would
Get strung on that Tongue
Make sure He's fed right
Let him Hibernate all night
Tucked in Honeydew

Majesty
it's your majesty
exuding in prominence
a story you tell
wizened thru patience
powerful and purposeful
your time is at hand
the legend of you
stalks the memory of man
etched in his passage
this ode is for you
sowed in a cheapened reserve
while the {wild} roam free
i apologize
for the zoos and circuses
and the mockery
as i write this rite
i know words won't make this right
but they're all i have
it's...

When The Baa Is Heard
Where the baa is heard
And the sound is bird
Where the flow is theme
Seen in running stream
When the rain is mist
And the eye is moon
And the river is twist
Fringed with the trees
Where the dove does croon
When the sheep and bird
Voice nature's chord
Chiming with the breeze
Wafting from the trees
It's here where pain is relief
Nothing from town to grief
It's the mountain call
When you're about to fall
Just take only your soul
And wing your fly and stroll
Among the mead and...

Holiday Odds
One day a pig and a turkey in pens side by side find themselves talking. The pig ask the turkey, “what are you in for.” The turkey say, “I’m in for Thanksgiving.” The pig says, “dam that’s hard time.” The turkey ask the pig, “well what are you in for.” The pig said, “I’m in for Christmas.” The turkey said, “well that’s hard time also.” The pig said, “ no it could be a fifty-fifty chance for me.”

Feral Beasts
It is not my place to ask why the Meadowlark sings
It is not my place to ask why the wind blows fair
In the absence of human life, the trees are my muse
In the absence of fire, the snow is my blanket
I would rather die, to the natural maws of a lion
Than to the maws of the progress of man
For nature knows its place
It does not question its existence
The laws of the jungle may be cruel
But far less cruel than the laws of the waning, war-torn world of mankind
It is not my place to ask why the wind blows fair
In the absence of human life, the trees are my muse
In the absence of fire, the snow is my blanket
I would rather die, to the natural maws of a lion
Than to the maws of the progress of man

But far less cruel than the laws of the waning, war-torn world of mankind

Broken Shells
There's something melancholy about seashells
I find them in many places so far from the sea
In those old jelly candles at thrift stores
Or the cloudy ones that burn the shells when lit
Bowls of shells from someone elses vacations
Big ones that are broken and dusty
Their pinks and purples long faded away
The spiky comb ones with only nubs left
It's strange to me that we don't view them like bones
Beautiful mural remains of creatures called mollusks
They're such beautiful unpraised little things
Taken far away and left to gather dust
I find them in many places so far from the sea
In those old jelly candles at thrift stores
Or the cloudy ones that burn the shells when lit
Bowls of shells from someone elses vacations
Big ones that are broken and dusty
Their pinks and purples long faded away
The spiky comb ones with only nubs left
It's strange to me that we don't view them like bones

They're such beautiful unpraised little things
