Kill the Pain
surrendered to
the elements
earth below
storms above
i lay, i pray
Kill the pain
reign over me
rain through me
cleanse this body
heal my bones
cold as stone
Kill the pain
clouds release
soul breaks free
surrendered to
the elements
i embrace the
purging power of
the cold october rain
the elements
earth below
storms above
i lay, i pray
Kill the pain
reign over me
rain through me
cleanse this body
heal my bones
cold as stone
Kill the pain
clouds release
soul breaks free
surrendered to
the elements
i embrace the
purging power of
the cold october rain

Thank you so much, dearest Brenda!
It came out as a scream while listening to the music, that you think it's a powerful conjuring means a lot... I so appreciate you <3
Love, Duende

"It came out as a scream ..."
I reckon screams are a highly dense form of communication, normally too dense to unravel with our stubby minds - but you have managed to tease it out, to unravel it, beautifully into poetic words.

"I am ever so grateful I have poetry to release strong emotions like these..." this is a quotable quote for my collection on the meaning and value of poetry - if I have your permission to add it to the list?

Re. Kill the Pain
Vivid imagery, Duende. I shuddered reading it.
I would definitely lose "the" in the final line.

I could hear a slow, power-chord Slash guitar throughout this. Feeling the rain against the words; what a powerful prayer for salvation

Wow... such beautiful compliments, thank you so much, Taurus!
I must admit: I had a crush on Slash, so it's possible he ended up in this poem somehow :-)

It was probably your subconsciousness that made the connection, my author's note said something else... great minds think alike and know their classics :-)

Dearest Melia,
It feels indeed like washing the old away, I still remember going outside when there was a heavy downfall, unlike most people I love the rain.
Thank you for your words of wisdom!
Love and Light, Duende

I agree with AEmelia. The rain is purging. Personally I prefer this to what Guns and Roses had to offer. You don't waste words. Loved every one of them!

Great to hear you loved every word, Crow!
As for Guns N' Roses... for me it's a trip down memory lane, bringing me back the days I was a bittersweet sixteen. Thank you so much for commenting!

How to reply to a comment so deeply moving as this one?
You're thinking was definitely right, it's indeed inspired by November Rain. Most, if not all of my poetry is inspired by music or a song pops up while writing and it inspires my work. It can go both ways. I often use some of the lyrics, just a small line, in this case Kill the Pain (also the title) music being very important to me.
Without music, life would be a mistake - Friedrich Nietzsche.
Nature can be so healing, allows you to just be. One with the wind, the trees, the earth, the elements. And I fully agree with you, there's something wrong with society, the expectations that are almost forced upon us, the fast way of living. That's why so many people feel lost.
It's indeed the few people you cross paths with, align with, can be yourself with, what makes live worth living. I cherish those rare connections deeply.
Finally, thanks heaps for reading me, sharing your thoughts and taking her home. You really are rare gem and I'm grateful you're here, dear Ethan. xo
