Beside the pond.... (wistful)
Alone,
I sat beside the pond
this morning.
Early sun ...
vibrant in its warm flush
of golden welcome
came cascading down
from treetops' glow,
embracing grass,
gifting colors vividly alive,
lifting flowers' faces …
with their honey-pollened smiles.
I was amazed
at how the breeze knew
I missed you
or was even thinking of you,
but I’d swear
it touched mine with your cheek,
slid a wisp of your locks
across my shoulder,
and became the sweetness
of your breath.
Olive oil and rose bouquet ...
... it hung for awhile
in the morning air,
a fragrant marker
along a trail of yesterdays,
leading to You ...
places of dreams and hope,
of love and laughter
and impossible possibilities.
I almost started to believe
I’d turn my head ~
and you’d be there.
Each year
has come and gone …
You, like fertile mana
ever glowing, growing
in my heart.
It’s said all things end,
and walking back to the house,
I sensed that coming truth
as Autumn's leaves
began falling
like tears ~
washing around
my feet.

This was a tight piece Rascal J and the way that it's written puts me there by that pond with images of gone loves. Really tight dude.

I actually rather enjoyed the sadness in this. I know that’s probably not the right word, but maybe more the melancholy here that communicates so much.
Thank you for sharing.

The feeling of such ardent descriptive devotion, really makes for a true aching resonance, Richard ......Your poetic prowess and the way only your pen has, of reaching in and touching that most secret place, is a true talent that has a breathtakingly poignant affect on the reader... I completely adore reading this romantic longing; touched by a whisper of melancholy... To me, it's memorable and something that I'll definitely reread several times...
Really stunning work, my lovely bard 🙏🏻

Thank you ever-so warmly and gratefully, Susan Dear 🍂
Your graciously stellar review, left for this rather pensively reflective piece, lends a sense of genuineness to its very essence, speaking to each and every nuance as though you'd inhaled and absorbed, rather than read it. I thought (hoped) this might transpire when inviting you here.
From my perspective, life has conspired with loneliness and sadness far too often, or, perhaps, just often enough to tilt my worn olde pen at exactly the angle that allows it to blend tears into its ink and stroke its gentle yearnings upon the page, revealing more of the man than I'd always readily admit … still, it's as though You perceive Me, regardless.
From the tenderly emotive touch bestowed from your words, it is easily felt we connected in some deeply meaningful way(s), and what more can a wishful bard hope than this? Well … perhaps, another time 'n place. 🍁
With warmness equal your own, to You, Dear Poetess, I gift this embrace of sheer gratitude! ⁓ Richard 🍃

Splendid.
The flow of thoughts
The choice of words: diction
Then
The evocation of images: Imagery
Finally
The Crown of the end.
Nice work.

Hi, Sam 🍷
What a nice way for a reader to let a bard know the qualities most recognized and appreciated in his work. You've expressed your thoughts and sentiments like a true poet should … with class and intelligent consideration.
With reviews like yours, I'll be inspired to shine m'olde pen and share a few more humble efforts … thank you most gratefully, dear fellow-poet! ⁓ Richard 🍃

I decided I needed to step back and see what I missed and wow this is just gorgeous. The combination of happy images, love, and devotion followed by the loss and longing is so palpable. The imagery is so vivid; you can see, taste, touch, and smell your incredible words. At least in my mind. :)The picture is beautiful and this is a definite for the reading list. Just lovely! 🍂🍃🎐🌰
