Pastors Sometimes Have Their Heads In the Sand
I visited a local pastor to share some info.
It was back in July but Im still mad about it.
I brought up that the Book of Revelation says "the Beast (Antichrist) will make war against the SAINTS (the predominately Christian nations) and will overcome them" and will thereby gain "power over every nation" - the whole world (Revelation 13.7).
Next I brought out to him, this local pastor, that this "war" or military attack could be when the Rapture occurs. For millions of Christians dying together would allow for souls to exit bodies.At which point the "gathering angels"(Matthew 24.30) would appear in order to escort multitudes of saved souls to heaven.
This wartime setting for the Rapture is supported by the fact that "sudden destruction" occurs at the Rapture.For "we will be caught up" is in 1 Thessalonians 4.17 while "sudden destruction" comes 3 verses later in 5.3.
Then i suggested that the "trumpet" blast at the Rapture (1 Thess 4.16-17) would be fulfilled by the roar of the nuclear bombs detonating. It was at this point that the pastor got indignant- "you're changing the Bible. How can you get nuclear bombs where it simply says 'trumpet' ?? There's no basis for what you'r saying." The conversation ended shortly afterward.
Because he wasnt taught about nuclear war as God's judgment IN SEMINARY, his mind was completely closed to it.He is over 50, but acts like he's still a kid in seminary. Seminary can be a cemetery for the intellect.

There are so many pastors with the same attitude. They go to their bible colleges and form their own opinions and interpretations of the Bible whether they realize it or not. The difference is, many of them tend to lean towards the majority opinion of whatever religious box they find works best for their personality and life style. Very rarely have I met a preacher who can humble themselves long enough to expand their minds a little bit to another idea or opinion or interpretation. Good for you for speaking up and offering up your thoughts to him. I'm certainly not trying to categorize all preachers as small minded. i don't like to categorize anyone. But its been my experience that if your not of their opinion....they tend to get judgmental and will cut you off quicker than "the sound of the last trump...in the twinkling of an eye" 1 Corinthians 15;52 ;)
