THE LOVE I NEVER HAD
There in his arms
was the woman
I could never
call my own.
I had loved her with all I had,
but all I had wasn't enough
to win her heart.
I had loved her for all she was,
but all she was, was only meant
for someone else.
There in her heart
was the spot I
could never take
for there he was,
the man I could
only wish I'd be.
She's my first love,
my first heartbreak,
the first poem I wrote,
the song that never
did I dare to sing.
She's a dream that never came true,
the one that I have never stopped
wishing upon each star at night.
Oh there she was
the only woman I've ever loved
but then she was
the only love I never had.

If you are finding it hard to love a woman,why not find a woman you only like but who LOVES you. Maybe her love will "prime the pump" until your luke warm feeling for her becomes love.
After all that's the way it is with God. As the Bible says, "We love Him because He first loved us." Our love for Him is in response. Our love for God is really more like gratitude. Ditto with a man's love for a woman (or vice versa). It can be based more on gratitude than real love. But it can morph into it, OK ??
