Us

I know we're alone, but I strung up the curtains.
They surround my bed and the darkness hides,
Our carnal adventures and explorations,
And when we're done there are tears in our eyes.

I look at you, and you at I.
It was so much fun to go at it like that.
In this moment I could happily die,
My heart filled with your love and intact.

I put an arm around you, and pull you to me.
As our bodies press you nuzzle my neck,
In this moment of innocence after the deed,
Neither of us minds being covered in sweat.

Letting go of the other is our greatest fear,
Inseparable and twisted, cheek to cheek,
You whisper sweet nothings in my ear,
Promising that tonight we won't sleep.

The warmth of your breath, and affectionate embrace.
The look in my eyes and my fingers through your hair.
This moment can't end, it's our happy place.
And if not here, I wouldn't know where.

Your damp hair frames your head,
But it can't hide the smile there.
I find it hard to believe that we're sharing a bed,
And yet here I am locked in your stare.

You kiss my nose and close your eyes,
And I ask if you want anything,
You say you want to relax for a while,
Before we have any fun again.

You hug me, somehow tighter than before,
And mumble what you'll do when you have your rest.
I almost speak but say no words,
Because you're softly snoring on my chest.
