put you on a canvas
if I could put you on a canvas
i’d paint you in soft brush strokes
how your hair always falls in your eyes
when you laugh at my stupid jokes
i’d line your eyes as they sparkle
and accentuate the blues and greens
i’d try to capture how they always light up
when you talk about your dreams
if I could put you on a canvas
my lines and corners would be seamless
like waves crashing down on the shore
its harmony has left me speechless
and if just one picture holds a thousand words
just one stroke of you...

i wonder how the moon feels
as it’s surface kisses the sky
does it feel as though stars blanket it
or like it has been left alone to die
i wonder if the stars know their worth
all the while lighting up our evenings
they’re of a countless number and dying
though still, such illustrious beings
then the sun finally rises
lighting up a new day
it’s more than I could ask for

i want to illuminate your nights
and twinkle all around you
i want to rise and light up your world

Sea of Sadness
if we could flood the earth with our tears
relinquish the tight grip held by our fears
at first it’s just a stream lapping at our feet
it feels heavenly, yet it’s all so bittersweet
but as we age, we face more heartbreak
and behind each lesson is it’s own mistake
we’re all trying to channel our inner author
and on this stream, we all can walk on water
the water is shallow, rolling over pebbles
each tear we cry comes with another level
it builds and it builds, then it just takes over

if we never meet again
forever ceasing to be friends
will this be our last goodbye
if so, I can always say I tried
my soul is a pit of burning embers
that much you can never remember
that, baby, your flames are imperative
though my longing for you is primitive
it’s like the universe is giving blessings
with no design of what it’s out shelling
but you really stepped into the spot
hitting the mark as you shoot your shot
somewhere deep in this unrelenting world

i’ve got startings to inner peace
a whole new dwelling in my soul
it just keeps bubbling to life
i’ve finally taken back control
it used to really bother me
when people left me in the wind
they always take my drop ships
i’d hated I lost another friend
but now the world has opened up

you ever wonder about me
i’ll tell you a few things
in this rhyming spree
I like to converse
but not about the weather
I want to know your dreams
the glue that holds you together
my favorite color is blue
and I watch tv with subtitles
i like the volume number to be even
and yo, fuck those commercials
i like to be taken deep
in the depths of your poetic mind
and if treated really well
i’ll always respond in kind
i can’t stand a liar though
it’s just a waste of energy ...

all because I said god damn
my whole body is broken
but I still have my will
our beliefs are different
and yet I love you still
but you push me away
because I don’t believe in god
i can’t work for my own way
so you guys help me out a lot
and in a fleeting moment
when I was far too slammed
yeah, I might’ve really fucked up
all because I said god damn
so now we’re not talking
you won’t answer the phone
you say that it’s alright
that you know I’m full grown
but you say you’ll leave me
if I don’t get my shit...

now go and grab the jack Daniels
or maybe make that a gentleman’s Jack

clip my wings
so just clip my wings
they’re not worth much at all
they don’t shield me anymore
all they let me do is fall
i am not worthy of their beauty
i am not worthy of their protection
they can’t save me now
not with this momentum
so just clip my wings
and send them back to heaven
i never earned these things
and that’s without question
when the sun goes down
and there is nothing left but ash
we should have clipped these wings
well before i started to crash
so just clip my wings now ...

the perpetual battlefield
you’d think that after all this time
i’d have learned quite a few lessons
but the more I try to make it work
the more I leave with other questions
i thought that I’ve covered the bases
and I spent weeks upon weeks
cooped up researching at my laptop
thinking is there anything I missed?
going through my list again
for the eighth fucking time
surely I didn’t miss anything
if I did, then the blame is mine
all the stress of trying to be this
trying to be that and all so perfect
a way of proving I turned out...

waiting for the blow that kills
then suddenly I’m lifted up
and I’m examined all around
but I can’t get the hook out
already down for the count
i knew once you got me hooked
when you were dragging me in
i caught just one glance at you
i knew I’d never fight you again
when you pulled me around
after so called stringing me along
i won’t complain on that, baby

now i’m in big white...
