breaker of chains
i’ve got startings to inner peace
a whole new dwelling in my soul
it just keeps bubbling to life
i’ve finally taken back control
it used to really bother me
when people left me in the wind
they always take my drop ships
i’d hated I lost another friend
but now the world has opened up
the clouds no longer threatening
this resolve buried deep into my core
all this brimstone is it strengthening
and then it’s me, myself, and I alone
because really I’m okay and I’m fine
i don’t need you here because
you’re just wasting both our times
so now I welcome the day
when you leave me on read
I go and say “next in line”
look in my eyes and they’re dead
and I no longer feel the ache
of that all too familiar hole
because i went there to fill it
stealing back all that it stole
it’s truly amazing when you make it
to the inner places of your dreams
you wonder what life is about
but it’s more special than you think
go water the gardens of your soul
for when your flowers grow tall
they will stand mighty to protect you
like in your heart you built a wall
to be everything that you truly need
and then only your desire remains
be your own hero, slay your own dragon
be the very breaker of your chains

Absolutely love this. Being alone is something terrifying for so many people, but it really is immeasurably valuable.
"to be everything that you truly need and then only your desire remains" is so beautifully well put. People always say you need to love yourself before you can be loved by others, but that saying always rubbed me the wrong way. I think we more so need to simply understand ourselves, and gift ourselves that understanding as much as we would for people we love. And being everything that you need on your own cuts down a lot of opportunity for shitty people to be shitty, amirite? lol. The ability to walk away and be okay is incredible. It still sucks when people aren't genuine, but if you weren't trying to fill a piece of you with them --you're still whole. You're still you and you're still fine. And that's powerful.

That last stanza...in truth, we are the only ones who can break our own chains...just as we forged them. This is an incredibly empowering write in that you own all that fire and you're forthright about being just fine on your own. THAT is strength. Seriously, girl. You stomped it out here
