aaahhhhhhhh
beauty
of a quiet morning
after snowfall
only sounds
birdsong
scraping of my
shovel against concrete

Snapshot
First snowfall 2021
Window panes of glass
bend evening's light
transforming an espresso landscape
into snowflaked obsidian—
a phenocryst crystal, reflecting
a solitary soloist perched
on a shivering pin oak's limb
No bigger than my palm
its shrill organ penetrates
a Universe of soft silence
despite the absence
of light or warmth
'And I think to myself,
What a Wonderful World'

DECONSTRUCTED
My body floats away
As flurrying flakes of snow
I frantically write
A line on each piece of me
Could this poem reach your shore?
As flurrying flakes of snow
I frantically write
A line on each piece of me
Could this poem reach your shore?

Never Mind The Weather
The coldest, forceful wind may blow;
The sun may, sometimes, golden glow;
The rain may, often, showery show;
The sky may dust the land with snow.
When it blows my hat is tied;
In the heat, 'neath shade I hide;
I shy from rain until it's dried;
And as it snows, I stay inside.
I don't mind a raucous gale
Or the sunburn in the vale
And nor the damp as raindrops sail
I love the biting snowflake hail.
A gust may roar throughout the night
But by the day the sun may bright;
A storm may rage...
The sun may, sometimes, golden glow;
The rain may, often, showery show;
The sky may dust the land with snow.
When it blows my hat is tied;

Naked Winter
The leaves of Autumn have fallen
Nature is caught up in winter's naked embrace
The winds don't sing a winter song
Instead they blow and moan
Crying the blues
While the shadows of trees
Lay down upon the season's first snow
Trees that reach their boney fingers towards the sky
A plea for mercy, in solemn prayer
The bitter wind cuts deep and nothing is as cruel
As a winter that exposes everything naked and bare
And lays a heavy burden on backs and shoulders
The sun's power has seemed to have drained away
A solitary brittle brown...

The Fountain And The Border
Dedicated to Muslim women
By the fountain east of the Turkish border,
My Muslim lover waits for me
I shall be at her side before nightfall
And I shall gently brush her face
Something goes wrong with our rendezvous
The rebels abduct me unexpectedly
Somehow they think I am an informer
Here in this dark and damp cave I pray
I recall the nights I spent with my darling
We had good times at the fountain
How I miss the moonlight and my guitar
The rebels are holding me in...

Weather
The red-yellowish ball emits its light;
A light so bright that folks make hay
To stack away;
That in case the clouds decide to cry
They hide in shells and munch on meat till
The red-yellowish ball appears once more.
Some love it when their feet splash in mud;
When the land beneath their feet feels like mashed potatoes.
Lads and Lasses come out to bask the heavy drops mother nature drops
And when they see the anger of Thor,
Usain Bolt takes over.
There are seasons coupled with special seasons;
Snowflakes sprinkled on...

The Last Winter
People are sending and receiving gifts and letters
Some are visiting their loved ones in late December
It is the coldest but happiest season of the year
Shoppers are in the supermarkets and the stores
Greeting cards and wrapping papers are on the racks
And everyone is pushing a trolley full of groceries
Taxicabs are zooming up and down the busy streets
Some people are just lingering on the sidewalks
They are all wearing woolly sweater and fluffy mittens
Sleigh bells are ringing all over the neighbourhood
And pairs of agile...

False Hopes
I hope you love me
Like you love the snow in the morning
Catching rays in the yellow light
Illuminating everything
Love me when it fell so suddenly
On your porch, that evening
Jaw dropping, you were mezmirized
I know you weren’t ready
So now, I ask
Will you miss me?
Like you miss that snow
Blanketing the mountains
White and pure
Will you cry as it melts before you
And you wonder where it all goes?
Will you hold me like you held those last few drops of ice, before it left once more?
I...

Small planets
Beyond the window
fat snow flakes are falling
through barren pin oaks
As squirrels burrowed in dusk
I nest amid poetry—
but, unlike squirrels
I shan't be sleeping. . .

I Won't Tell A Soul
The moment it slips
from the lips,
it will no longer exist.
Life is funny like that.
from the lips,
it will no longer exist.
Life is funny like that.
