Cult of Personality
They want to lead people to the promised land
They wish to build the perfect society free of damnation
But first they must cleanse it and be rid of all that is bad
Filling people with fear that they too may be a damned nation
They speak with charisma, with certainty, with power
But the message brainwashes and turns people into slaves
The masses buy into the idea of one deranged individual
And they follow their messiah blindly even to their own graves
The deliverer stands proud there behind the podium
Book in one hand, a fist in the...

I caught myself
mid eye roll
hands tossed in the air
thinking "again...here we go"
but I paused for a beat
and gave it full my consideration
despite my usual frustration
I really needed to understand
why you do...

I know why your knees take a beating
head bent in pious penance
wringing fingers in invocation
there in your habitual pew
on display in prominent view

you best believe I'd know the score,
I post the ten commandments in Hebrew
and hang a mezuzah by the door
The kids could sit on a pentagram rug
in the lotus position if they choose,'
Unitarian talks and Pagan rites
with inclusion you can't lose
The next mandate is not hard to guess:
Trump's picture on the wall
a breaker of every commandment
the irony lost on each and all
Talk of separation of church and state
would only be met with anger and hate
should I be forced to hang doctrine...

New Revelation
An Angel descended to the earth
And blew his trumpet
And he called to judgment all the living
And all those who lay in the tomb
But it was already to late
And every sinner was fast asleep
And the trumpet voice was in vain
And only one rose up
Over a world that has fallen asleep
He rises in the shadow, an ominous
evil raised from the pits of hell
A formidable idol with an animal grin
The new Revelation
His empty eye sockets are watching
behind our dreams
...

Dying One day..
Dying one day..
Ok, since this will become instant
Some day, any time
Why am I still trying to distant?
Myself from the act of taking own life
I mean, isn't it the real fact ever?
Dying one day..
But then I'm a Mollusc male
If not for anything else
It's in my nature
Slow and steady
It certainly wins a race
In my own case, it simply keeps me safe
Suicide not my type
Not my style
Satisfactorily,
All I need is to live
And when It's time
I simply die..

In absence of truth
believing without proof
No one asking the question
Self fulfilling prophecies
So many theologies
Each one is the only one
They all come as a pair
using faith without a care
Never asking the question
Justifying it's better
to have faith and believe
