To see love win
I cannot change the system from within,
so why stay here, stuck in the status quo?
I know I might not live to see love win.
When frightened minds see human love as sin
and power players change rules as they go,
it’s risky changing systems from within.
I feel the judgement even from my kin,
who say that change is moving far too slow
and don’t have time to wait to see love win.
But change by force will only change the spin,
as new oppressors rise up from below.
To end the cycle, hearts must change within.

Betrayal
The Day I returned
Awakened
Harmony divided
In my faith
Past memories
God is who I hate
Searching the betrayal
Shadows of light
Silent Tomorrow's
Endless night's

Making Love on Easter Morning
I held you close, and would not release until
you led me with velvet hands to the chamber
given by your mother where you were conceived..
The curtains of your chamber were parted
like a new bloom for my delight.
See how it glistens with the same morning dew
shared by all women of Mother Earth.
I tasted you and knew our Creator was good.
you led me with velvet hands to the chamber
given by your mother where you were conceived..
The curtains of your chamber were parted
like a new bloom for my delight.
See how it glistens with the same morning dew
shared by all women of Mother Earth.
I tasted you and knew our Creator was good.

Do Not Cry
When it's time for me to leave...
For my body do not grieve...
My soul has been lifted to the Heaven's on high...
So for my body do not cry...
For my body do not grieve...
My soul has been lifted to the Heaven's on high...
So for my body do not cry...

Sunday
We praise you, O God,
our redeemer, creator…”
Almost time to get tidied up
presentable
for the parade of washed and scrubbed souls
lined up in our chairs in the chemo ward
waiting for that weekly infusion of faith
“Not what my hands have done
can save my guilty soul…”
I do want to look like I have my shit together,
at least enough for basic hygiene
forget that an hour before, I was stinking and greasy.
I’ll stand up there and sing
and they’ll imagine me “mature in faith”, ...
