Paramaribo
In Paramaribo
I met a girl, half Indian and beautiful
there was a big church and a castle
to defend Dutch interest
A hot and swampy place, which I liked
coming from Norway, a cold country
with a poor working- class who sent
their sons to join the merchant marine
The housing estate in Paramaribo
consisted, mostly of shacks, among
romantic palms
Had I married the girl and settled
I would have been a beneficiary of
the promised oil wealth
As it is, as a Norwegian, I get a pension
so mean, I have to live in...

QUIET.
Funny she cannot find the words to convey how she feels. She is normally a nonstop talking machine you would have to pay her a hefty sum to just shut up.
She makes recounting an event into a feature film arms waving eyes bright and her vocabulary quick fire but articulate. Nothing is left behind every minuscule detail displayed as if on a counter of a jewellery shop. Where the gems twinkle and entice you in.
Now she is silent most days cannot even concentrate on her most beloved poems or books. Nothing has the hook to ignite her imagination and stoke the fire of...

I watched a squirrel this morning…
Still gathering
Still preparing
The snow is late
But he knows
And I wonder
How many times
I could have
Prepared for the storms

Life is a puzzle
Life is a puzzle
A puzzle of time taking
Filled with confusing shapes
Beautiful when done
Hard when starting
Worthwhile when you are almost there
My heart speaks into a mirror
Seeing the regrets that has been made
Choosing not to speak its mind to
The problems that’s been saved.
Im a moving piece that doesn't know where to stay
Feeling lost in the sea of my feelings, trauma, thoughts
Not knowing where to belong
feeling not wanted
Drowning in my sorrows
Seeing love ones come and go as i sit alone
I scream but...

Lies
I tried to move past the lies you left in your stay
But they lingered in my mind, refusing to fade away
You promised me forever, but it was all just a game
Leaving me stranded in a sea of heartache and pain
I thought I could forget you, erase you from my heart
But your memory haunts me, tearing me apart
I tried to bury the love we once shared
But it resurfaces, leaving me ensnared
I left knowing I would never love again
Wounded by your deceit, my heart filled with disdain
I thought I could find solace in a new embrace
But your...

Everything to gain
Sick of myself
Sick of my home
Watching my wasting flesh
Slowly turn into bones
Go where I'm needed
Go where I'm wanted
Where disabling diseases
No longer haunt me
I can be with all the others
Mirrors of me
Who want nothing more
Than to be set free
Free from the desire
Free from the pain
With nothing left to lose
And everything to gain
Sick of my home
Watching my wasting flesh
Slowly turn into bones
Go where I'm needed
Go where I'm wanted

When They Look You in the Eye
holding onto the dead and buried, fragile dreams he has
shattered promises love your old looks
loving hard, feeling even harder to be loved
battered child of empathy purged by the mind
remember when you knew you weren’t the same?
spending his days in a tomb of shattered mind
when you came home tonight, i knew it all too well
lending your body to the delusory, the withered
then you ask what made you, if you ever were made
notice how the skin on your back burns?
learning the ways of those who’ve come undone...
shattered promises love your old looks
loving hard, feeling even harder to be loved
battered child of empathy purged by the mind

My Thought for Today: When Words are Used as Weapons
Words can wound, it’s as simple as that. Some much deeper than others. I’ve been annihilated by a few perfectly placed words. But mostly, it was the subtle, off handed remarks that let me know how insignificant I was to someone that buried me.
I’ve been known to have a cutting tongue myself. I can slice a heart in a millisecond. Ironic, considering mine was usually lying at my feet broken into hundreds of tiny pieces as I was attempting to gather them so I could stitch it back together again. Or was it?
Those missiles that flew out of my mouth on their search and...

The Young
Maybe later on I'll feel better
Maybe then we'll get together
We can have some drinks
And have a little fun
We can shine like the sun
We'll sing the songs we knew
Back in the days when we were young
And didn't know anything at all
About the pain the world dishes out
We'll smile and sing
And carry on like madmen
Like we did in the old days
But now the days are new
And we are old
And the world has rolled over on us
We reached the point a long time ago
Where there is less time left for us
Than time we've spent ...
Maybe then we'll get together
We can have some drinks
And have a little fun
We can shine like the sun
We'll sing the songs we knew
Back in the days when we were young
And didn't know anything at all

I Am That Horror Show
I was called out and rightfully so
I haven’t been myself
Which I see my actions show
I should be better than this
And cling to the good that I know exists within
but in my low, the devil attached to me
and trying to be polite
I opened myself to the carnage
And lately I’ve not been right
It’s sad to feel you wish me harm
but an angel can only take so much
I can feel the curse upon me
That anxious twisting in my guts
The past three months
have been brutal
creeping toward that milestone age,
and all...
I haven’t been myself
Which I see my actions show
I should be better than this
And cling to the good that I know exists within
but in my low, the devil attached to me

the blue of his shirt
the blue
of his
shirt
matched
the color
of the
ocean's
hands,
watching
the wind
fill
his sails,
he floated
on the
waters
like
an empty
shell,
he was
pushed
further out
before
he was
swallowed
up.
