Solitude

On  a desert island
Faraway
Where nothing grows
But a single palm tree
Beneath, a single mat
There lays solitude
Bathed golden by the sun
Soaking the rays
Into the sand
And at times
Sucking in coldness
Of the buffeting wind
Yes there stay
Solitude
An invisible sentinel
gazing sightless
towards the horizon

How lonely it must be
To be a sentinel
Of the sea...
