There’s something admirable about the tenacity of this, but it mostly reminded me of how we need to separate the artist from the artistry. Not enough people say what they mean, and mean what they say. How bloody n i c e we’ve all become.

I think one of the things people like most about my writing is my “direct” approach.  Living in New York City my entire adult life has sharpened my skills in saying exactly what I mean.  I try to couch it politely but if you offend me I’m going to tell you exactly what I feel.  Then run if someone pulls out a gun …. This was one of those poems that just appeared and wrote itself.
